Hi all,
I use fceux. I used to use a save state to quickly reset back to the Start menu (assigned it to a hotkey on my controller, so I could just press "L2" and it would reset back to the start menu).
This seemed to be fine when I submitted runs around a year ago, but my most recent run was rejected for breaking the "no save states" rule. Which is fine, the rule is there for a reason and I'm not arguing it.
Can anyone suggest the most efficient way to reset, that won't break the rules? I don't want to have to put down my controller, click Menu, and load the entire ROM in every time I screw up 1-1.
How do you guys reset?
Thanks
i guess that rule is because of some rng manip stuff well i didnt run this game in concret but, as well as the button for savestate, you can map a button of the keyboard to reset or power off the console, which is completly fine
I just pulled up FCEUX and under NES I found you can hit Ctrl+R to reset the ROM. However, I don't know if you have to hard reset the emulator/console or just soft reset the game.
you can change the reset button from config -> Map Hotkeys.. default reset is ctrl + r
you could also probably use joytokey for even more convenience
