I'm not sure how many people (if any) have tried to find a 8-3 FFPG setup because looking at all the levels 8-3 seems the most likely because the way the stairs are setup and the slowdown needed to get 242 on the timer. I'm not sure if there is or if it would be possible in RTA. |

A setup wouldn't be possible since there's no way for Mario to clip into the floor before the flagpole |

also saving another framerule wont allow 4:53 to happen, we will need likely at lease 3 new ones to be saved |

@FireGoesFastFireGoesFast ???? That doesn't make any sense |

You only need 2 or 3 frames in order for 4:53 to be possible |

8-3 FFPG is possible as shown in the warpless walkathon TAS, but is much slower than completing the level normally. |

I'm not the right person to answer because I don't understand those subspeed, subpixel things. But I always wondered if it's possible to do something like in 4-1 get a fast accel at the start and during the course of the level do quick turnarounds under blocks so Mario clips inside them and gets pushed to the right a little bit (similar to the old 3-bump method) that way Mario gets to the flag sooner, then a FPG. I'm pretty sure that messes up setups on the things I don't understand from the game, but I just wondered if it's possible to clip inside certain blocks to get pushed to the right and get to the flag faster. Clipping inside the blocks would be similar to when you do a fast powerup grab from underneath. |

i saw once the 4-2 bottom clip, with mario being at the same height as the block it'd clip, so, imagine if we could do that on the ground levels with a walljump (like in 8-1), but i won't get my hopes high as it is pretty much impossible to get good subpixels to do a walljump and clip on the ground |

@Mingura666Mingura666 Also, in 4-1, you need to save a lot more frames than in 1-1 or 4-2 (where you only need 1) to save another framerule, so 4-1 would probably not be the right level to look into if we want to make 4:53 happen. But, I appreciate the theory you made. |

Clipping through walls also push you to the right side of the screen, and it is usually faster than backward bumps. |

You have to press left to clip into blocks and do backwards bumps, so doing that would probably lose more time than it saves. |

@FireGoesFastFireGoesFast Niftskis SoB is 4:54.332 so it would get 453 |

@DaTroll18DaTroll18 but im saying that if you do a down right or something like that you could do a small jump of the step before the last and clip down below and you need a slowdown to get 242 on the timer so it wouldn't lose time it would save .35 seconds |

@WolfAttacKWolfAttacK a framerule saves like 0,35 , getting 4:53 would require at least 3 framerules more, the actual best theorethical for human is 4:54:7xx |

@KilleDragonKilleDragon he's talking about a 4:53 TAS, which would only need 2 or 3 frames to be saved. |

@RealTPVRealTPV you can't clip into the ground, you wouldn't go far enough in. Also clipping into the ground would let you get FFPG, which would save over a second. |

@KilleDragonKilleDragon The human SoB is 4:54.332 so only one framerule needs to be found for human SoB to be around 4:53.892 |

One framerule that is humanly possible, which is extremely, extremely, extremely unlikely. |

can't some smart programmer brute force it or decompile it or whatever they call it and settle the final time once and for all? |

shut up its gonna happen, 4:53 EZ Clap |
