Slow Emulator Problem

I very recently posted about getting an emulator etc

I got the recommended one and found an SMB rom that works, but the actual gameplay of it is really slow despite the FPS counter saying 60 and the speed being 100% Is there something I can do to make the game the speed it's meant to be played at, or is it a Hardware issue? Thanks

It might be the ROM, you could also try changing the emulator, I use FCEUX 2.2.2. You are not allowed to change the speed though, in the rules it says you may not do anything that an NES can't. I also suggest getting a ROM that is Super Mario Bros. + Duck Hunt for later.

Among the most commonly used emulators are Bizhawk, FCEUX and Nestopia. See if you get better results using the latter two.

By speed do you mean that the SOUND is fast? because if so - I had that problem and the issue was that it was a PAL rom not NTSC

Sometimes the roms will have the region in the filename at the end. If it has "E" then that's likely the PAL version. NTSC version would likely be marked with "U"

PAL version is not recommended unless you're intentionally wanting to run that version. The music will sound faster than normal but other sound effects such as entering a pipe will sound slower than normal compared to the NTSC version.

I'm currently using Bizhawk. The rom's file name on the other hand is "Super Mario Bros. (JU) [!].nes" so I'm unsure as to whether that's a PAL or NTSC. I'll try out a couple of the other recommended emulators and if that doesn't work I'll try a different rom. But if neither of those work then I'll probably just blame my hardware tbh.

JU is ntsc

JU is indeed NTSC. J is for the Japanese version and U is for the US version. The game is the exact same for the NES/FC so that should be why you see both letters on this one.

"Is you emulator set to PAL?"

How do I check this, and if so, how do I change it? I'm using BizHawk

mmm.... I don't use bizhawk. Nes>Advanced Settings>Region Override?

Never mind, you said it was running at 60 fps. Yeah i have no idea dude. See if changing the core works: NES>Core> NesHawk

Otherwise Try downloading FCEUX http://www.fceux.com/web/download.html

Dude just get the game on VC for Wii U or Switch. It is only 5.35 dollars with 7% tax included. If you don't have those consoles, get it on 3DS though the controls feel a little awkward. If you don't have 3DS, get a 2DS for $80.

consoles can have only 1 type of controller, also wii U VC have slower FPS, which makes you losing time. And people don't want to lose even 1$ if it is not necessary.
