Bounty for 4:54

That's a big post.

I'd rather sell 454 of my games than go for a 4:54

Germany

@Lul_ecks_dee When I did my estimate of 1 year, I assumed a sufficiently high bounty was existing and there were multiple people wanting to get it. Those factors make it happen much more quickly than without. Since runs have luck involved as noone is or will ever be 100% consistent at everything (even when excluding coin toss), it is always possible to do the 4:54 run in the first attempt, or after multiple 10000 more than needed on average. So it could take quite a bit longer. But assuming I know that I will have 3 years before anyone else gets 4:54, I would just extend everything proportionally. But I really think that if someone (that is sub5) has 1 year of 100% free time, a lot of motivation and some talent, there is a realistic chance of 4:54, even more so with a few additional months of attempts, which don‘t need to use up all the time that person has.

More time on 1-2g: I don‘t think so, my plan includes 1 hour per day for 6 months plus 1 month of 4 hours a day for 1-2, which also includes the clip. And if that‘s not enough it can also be practised in month 7. And it‘s early in the run compared to 8-1 and 8-2, so resets don‘t cost a lot of time. But I don‘t practise 1-2g so I don‘t really know 8-1 and 8-2: 8-1 FPG is included in FPG practise, fast accel is in fast accel practise so the only other thing needed to save the framerule is subpixel manipulation, which on its own is not that hard compared to fpg. For 8-2, noone really knows yet how easy or hard it is to get more consistent at it, but the fast accel part is practised, the 1st pixel bbg is 2 frame perfect inputs and the pipe jump is practised for 4 hours a day for 1 month (the rest of the level is so easy it doesn‘t need much practise).

Mindset and efficient practise are important, and I was assuming these to be already developed in my estimate. I could see spending some time on these while working on easier levels (8-3, 4-1), which don‘t need that much practise, being worth it.

@Lul_ecks_dee Yes, I meant I would grind it for free.

4:54 is so difficult that is currently not humanly viable, no matter if you're a top runner or if you're a player with a lot of time to try to get to the top level. There's a framerule that no one has ever saved even in practice, for example.

@KingBoo Ok, so how much of a bounty would it take for you to be the person to make it humanly viable and to be motivated to get the first 4:54?

@Phoenix_SSM Ok, so how much of a bounty would it take for you to be motivated to fix those time issues (find time in your day, remove time wasters, be more efficient), improve your mindset to a much higher level that can support grinding hard and smart, and to buy a NES in order to become the first person to 4:54?

@Th3Re4l When does the grind begin?

@KingBoo Blazit saved 8-2 framerule with 3 segments. Still a far cry from single segment but at least we know each trick in the level is RTA viable.

@Lul_ecks_dee After (if I ever) I get at least a 4:55:7 (I will still practice the glitches before that tho). Wich I'm sure I can if I try hard enough, the unic things that I can't do are 8-3 FPG, 1-2G and 8-2, 8-1 is probably not that hard, the hard part would be the fast accel and FPG pole inputs tbh. I haven't even tried them because I want to start with a sub 5, and then start adding time saves like BBG and Blazit (the ones I'm most consistent at, wich are BBG and Blazit) and then start adding those harder ones, like FPG and 1-2G. Mavpole I can get the subpixel position for FPG right most times, the pole inputs are the hard part. I hope I don't sound narcisistic on this comment because of me saying that I can get a 4:55 if I try.

@Th3Re4l Nah you're good, it's far better to believe you can do something than not. That's also why I straight up say that I am going to 4:54, because I will. Besides, it doesn't matter if other people don't like it, it's not about them, it's about you getting a 4:55 and then 4:54.

@Lul_ecks_dee this is off-topic other than the spirit of this post, but you mentioned David Goggins. I watched a Netflix documentary last night on the "Iron Cowboy" a guy who did the 50/50/50 - - - 50 Iron mans in 50 all states in 50 days. Just shows that even the impossible can be possible if you believe in yourself. Or at least it was in that case. Good inspirational documentary about doing what shouldn't be even remotely close to possible.

Or like that time kosmic got wr on his 3rd attempt doing 1-2 clip... 0.o shouldn't have been possible

@Lul_ecks_dee I do see your point, and if anyone can do 4:54 it's gonna be you, taven, kosmic, or somewes. Definitely not me though lol EDIT: I read your question and I would say it would have to be a pretty large bounty, most likely $500k or more. Not that I'd get 4:54 before anyone else anyway since I wouldn't be the only one going for it if there was a bounty that large.

@Phoenix_SSM It would be a cash bounty
