Exuse me, why you deleted my thread without actually telling me anything?

It was probably getting out of control.

This is what @roopert83 (one of this game's super mods) said on the Discord server:

"I'm probably gonna kill that thread with gasoline and fire honestly. Thanks for you input on that. I deleted the first post because that Google spreadsheet had a ROM download link in it. The whole thing seemed impossible and absurd on the surface, but I admittedly did not read much of it as my care factor is pretty close to zero. Now that people are spewing toxicity back and forth, yeah. I'm just gonna kill it now."

And for some words of my own:

"I mean, we're how many frames from perfect 8-4 in real time without L+R, and you're expecting it to be done perfectly using L+R. As Maru said, it's just not feasible for this to be done in real time. I don't think you have bad intentions, but this project is simply never going to work as you want it to."

I can understand for the ROM thing but the idea behind is really cool. I don't undertstand. @zdoroviy_antony you should create a discord server so nobody can delete it cuz your idea was good

Come on, guys, just don't join it if you think it is impossible. Don't delete any threads, because I know that already few people were seriously interested and it is possible to be more to come. Deleting forums, just because not everybody likes it is not how public forums should be done. It needs to be free for discussing ideas. @roopert83, you don't own this game, you don't own all the speedruns of this game and you obviously not a God, so, please, be respectful to ideas, that just you or even most of the community don't like, just don't read this threads. Sorry if I was wrong, I willn't talk about it everywhere, but SRC is the most popular place for speedruners, so don't bee too proud of yourself and don't try to take away all the game to your own hands. And you can't really prove that 4:54.03 is not possible in real time. I'm sorry if I'm breaking some rules, but I don't really see anything wrong, you didn't even tell me, so it is unfair.

@Novawolf It's entirely possible with short enough segments. If the inputs become too complicated, just make the segments shorter at that area.

While I don't necessarily agree that it's the best use of someone's time, I don't think somebody should be persecuted for sharing an idea. We're supposed to be open to new ideas.

Who knows, maybe we could find some strats/routes that make 4:54 RTA viable. As far as I'm concerned, this isn't hurting anybody and does have the possibility of being useful. Seriously, even if you think it's impossible or a waste of time, chill out guys.

@zdoroviy_antony He didn't delete your thread because it's a bad idea, he deleted it because "people [we]re spewing toxicity back and forth." I appreciate your ambitious idea, and there should be more people like you in this community who have such ambition. If you could show people examples of difficult segments being pulled off (e.g: Perfect 4-2) that may help people believe Also I liked that video you made, can you repost it?

@roopert83 may not own the game, but he is one of the 4 people I think that owns the game's speedrunning page. So therefore he has a right for changing things around in the thread. He may not have the best times in all the categories, but it's selfish to say he's not a god. He doesn't have to be a god in order to change the leaderboards, forums, etc. here. Telling him to not read the threads that are being posted on a speedrunning page he may own, is just aggrivating to me. He's not being disrespectful do anyone here. He's not taking the game away from anyone else. He's just doing his job, trying to keep everything in control, calm, and in good hands. He's done a lot for the community; like making the Warpless tournament. Roopert isn't being mean at all from what I've seen. Maybe you've ran some other games that have more "looser" rules than in here. That's all I have to say.

Bow down to me my minions. Bow down and grovel to your overlord of SMB1. MUHAHAHAHA Kappa

Okay, let be real here now that I've taken the time to respond to this.

@zdoroviy_antony I don't appreciate your incendiary accusations. This coming from my perspective as a person, not as a moderator. I don't really let it bother me, but I still don't appreciate it. You're not the first person to be mad at me and you're surely not the last. It's something that I've learned to deal with and I deal with it pretty well most of the time with the role I have taken.

So let's address some of your comments and concerns shall we?

Why did you delete the thread? I deleted it because people were taking sides and being hostile to one another. It seemed to me that it was spiraling out of civility and so I made the decision to remove it. I actually waited and took a fair amount of time before I actually did it.

"You didn't even tell me, so it is unfair." I'm not obligated to report to someone when I delete a post/thread.

"Deleting forums, just because not everybody likes it is not how public forums should be done. It needs to be free for discussing ideas. Whether or not I like the idea is irrelevant. The forums are free for discussing ideas. However, it was no longer a discussion, but a cesspool of toxic comments toward people on the other side. Leaving things like that looks really bad for newcomers as it looks like we do a lot of fighting with each other. Had everything stayed chill, the thread would have stayed.

"You don't own this game, you don't own all the speedruns of this game and you obviously not a God." Thank you for letting me know, I was totally unaware. I suppose my question to you is: "why does that matter?" I don't see anywhere that requires me to be the best at the game to be capable of verifying runs and moderating the forums. Sure, I used to be much higher on the leaderboards years ago and I have fallen behind a bit. So what? That doesn't mean I don't know my stuff. It doesn't mean that I'm not capable. I have a variety of life and motivational reasons on why I don't grind out a top tier time which I will not discuss here. Being the best at the game doesn't always mean that you're suitable for the role.

"Please, be respectful to ideas, that just you or even most of the community don't like, just don't read this threads." I let ideas be discussed as long as it doesn't become a problem. There are plenty of ideas that I don't like and plenty that I do like. As long as people are chill, it's fine. Just don't read the threads? Sorry, that's not how this works.

"Don't bee too proud of yourself and don't try to take away all the game to your own hands." Proud of myself? I feel you have a misunderstanding of my demeanor and my intentions. You honestly think I enjoy dealing with these situations, puff up my chest and give myself a pat on the back? No, I feel you are mistaken. I'd much rather have everyone be chill, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, as the community grows, this is an increasingly difficult problem to keep in check at times. Here's what I think. I think you're taking me sometimes being somewhat formal and assertive to mean something that it's not. It's not because I like to be that way, it's because I feel I have to be that way. Somebody needs to do it and I'm the person who does it. I'm not afraid to say what I feel needs needs to be said and I realize some people like it and some people don't. I don't lose sleep at night because not everyone likes me. It's a part of this role and it's a fact of life. I got over that many many years ago.

I spend probably more of my time doing things with and for the community than I honestly should, but I do it because enjoy it and I like to help out. I'm helping run this year's Warpless tournament and I ran the one last year by myself. It is honestly a huge sacrifice of time to run a big tournament. If you've never ran one of that scale, I feel that a lot of people don't realize just how much work these things take to get it to run well, timely and as smoothly as possible. I do this because I like seeing people have fun and getting excited for races and getting involved with other members of the community. It even encourages people to try out Warpless. It's not for my benefit, it's for everyone else.

I will now force myself to stop babbling. Y'all have a good Friday. :)

It's not at all. It's preventing drama from happening later on. So that's actually more mature than immature.
