I dare not use 1 frame wall jump on 8-4. What should I do?

(My English is so bad,sorry...) We all know that the 2 frames wall jump is much easier than the 1 frame wall jump , but the 2 frames wall jump is about 0.3 seconds slower than the 1 frame wall jump.

If I want to get 4:56, only add 2 FPG is not enough,I need to be faster at 8-4, which requires 1 frame wall jump to save time

In the past, I used 2 frames wall jump on 8-4, but I dare not use 1 frame wall jump. Even if the previous process is good, as long as the wall jump fails, I must start and try again

I know that to reach 4:56, I must use 1 frame wall jump, but if I fail, I will feel very depressed. I hope someone can tell me how to make myself feel better when the speedrun fails.

You have two options: keep using the 2 frame walljump setup, or switch to using 1 frame walljump.

If you keep using 2 frame walljump, you'll be losing around 0.35 seconds of time in 8-4, and you'll have to save that time elsewhere in other levels. Eventually it will get to a point where the time you're having to save to make up for your time loss in 8-4 is much most difficult than just doing 1 frame walljump. Therefore, you're going to have to switch to one frame walljump at some point.

One frame walljump is initially very daunting, but after getting it in PBs a couple times it becomes much more consistent. As a result, I recommend doing one frame walljump as early as possible. Since you already have a 4:57, you should start doing one frame immediately and not put it off any longer, because the longer you wait to add it, the harder 8-4 will get for you.

With one frame you kinda have to accept that a lot of your runs will fail it at first, since it is two frame perfect inputs, but there isn't really another way around it (other than doing a fast accel in walljump room but that's even harder lol). Just try to remember that everyone finds it hard at first (it took me around 15 runs to 8-4 to go from a 4:57.9 to a 4:57.6 because of one frame walljump), but it's very doable and you can overcome it with enough practice.

Also, make sure to practice 8-4 a lot more than you're used to doing. Walljump room will become pretty much the hardest part of the run if you're going for a mid 4:57, so you want to get very consistent at it fast, which you get through doing lots of practice. Good luck :)

also, you can do forwards (instead of backwards) 1 frame walljump so it's more consistent

Just try your best if you feel overwhelmed just don't play for some time and try again

you can do the foward variant which as mentioned previously is more. consistent. since you have an input in less to make. My advice is simple and i know it's a cliche. but simply Go for it. the further you advance down the time-saves the harder saving time will become and while it is easy to feel overwhelmed i reccomend you look at it the following way: ''Oh i failed, meh. next attempt here i come :D'' when it come to one frames/frame perfect inputs it's only so much harder. but you'Il feel very proud when you manage to get it down. don't bother yourself too hard just pratice and have fun. speedrunning isn't alway fun when it come to praticing but it doesn't mean you cant have fun nonetheless.

like everyone else said, I would recommend going for forwards 1 frame walljump. if you do 2 frame, then the timesaves that make up for it are undoubtably harder than 1 frame itself. if you really want like a .8 tho, i would recommend going 8-3 walljump setup, it's super consistent and pretty much guarantees hitting the pixel.
