First speed run

Need some info on how this site works, I did a any% run on super meat boy, I didn't record it but I'll do it again, a few questions, how do I send my video in and does it have to be a video of directly the game, cause I use my phone as a camera and have a homemade Stand set up to my tv, nothing is actually cut off. Is this ok? Also can I delete the video after because I don't think I can keep a 30 minute long video on my phone, even with 35 GB free.. please write back the basic rules and if I could qualify and how to do so and etc. thx!

You have to record you video, then upload it on youtube, then post the youtube link.

Just upload the video (to YouTube, Vimeo, Vid.me etc). As long as there's video proof, it's fine.

upload video to some site that you can link back on here, and MUST HAVE GAME SOUND. your run will be rejected if it does not have sound. it also must be a new save, which is stated on the rules section of any% category.

so it doesn't matter that I'm just propping my phone up to the Xbox as long as I turn my volume up high.. cool! I've been waiting a really long time to do this and I'm gonna post one as soon as I'm good enough to do it in under 30 minutes, I'm already at 30:59. Also one more important thing, can I just use a regular stop watch to do this? It may not be 100% accurate but if anything it would only increase my total time so it isn't really cheating. Also thanks so much for responding so quickly. I'm glad I asked. ????????

Those question marks at the end was some kind of weird auto correct mess up from apple I guess? I have no idea how they got there.

A phone timer would work just fine... honestly, as long as you can tell how long the video is a timer isn't necessary either. You should just be able to tell how long your run took in your post, which isn't actually necessary either. As for splits, I don't use them either, and they are only necessary for personal record-keeping purposes. You don't need to add your splits onto your post, although you can if you have them.

I hope you do well dude! :)

Yeah as Diamond said, a phone timer, stopwatch or anything would work fine. (not even required) You really don't need to add your splits to your submission too.

If you use discord I'd recommend joining the server ( https://discord.gg/6fWG3XK ) if you have any questions in the future you'll have a quick answer there.

Good luck on the runs :)

so i got the game on the PC and have a xbox one controller in use for it (as if anyone could do it without a controller) I don't have a 100% accurate stopwatch due to me using the ipod but I think I can get it to be about accurate to 0.5 seconds off, which shouldn't be a problem, I installed OBS for video recording, although it may be a little laggy, my final question is that my friend told me that if the framerate goes over a certain amount sometimes on certain computers it may actually speed up the game slightly, I don't think my framerate will get that high and im not even 100% sure if this is true but if it is im sorry, I have a feeling everything will work out fine, my only problem for doing these speedruns (excluding meatboy because its so short) is still my computers memory/phones memory (only when speedrunning on the xnox) Im probably going to ask my friend how to record on the xbox one although something tells me youll have the answer. thanks so much for all the wonderful jobs you've done on guiding me through the steps of preparation for this, im amazed at how fast the responses were. good luck on all your future recordings as well. bye!

I did it but I failed miserably on larries lament, I got a time of about 30:46.85 heres the link

Yeah answers, have been good on this thread thanks all.

Can you do anything about the echo? It's not a big deal for now but it sounds like you are recording both game sound and microphone while game volume is playing aloud so maybe throw some earphones in the side of the TV/monitor/whatever or don't record microphone.

Grats on the PB and good look in further runs. Also if you have questions the discord is a good place to hit up for even faster responses.

Unfortunately I probablly can't fix the echo, I'm not the greatest at technology and my computer isn't very good, I don't have anything extra hooked up besides the Xbox one remote, I'll look into it but as far as I know it's gonna remain that way, i was going to do an undertale speedrun but I may of accidentally broke the files trying to reset it (It still works but not only can I not reset it but it's not even the original game now) it was much easier to do this on the pc then it was trying to do it on the Xbox. But if you know any way I could just simply reset all the files of the game (even if it doesn't fix the genocide history) I would love for you to tell me because I'm at the point where i would need to beat the game 2 more times and reorganize all the files of the game in order to restore the deleted and displaced files, I think I have a good understanding of how to do it now but it's a little to late now (I deleted 5 different files and put a copy of the game inside of itself)
