Quick Start to understand the Category Extensions

-What is a Category Extension? A: This kind of leaderboard indicates a secondary leaderboard meant to have categories that do not fit within the main game leaderboard.

-What categories will be added? A: I plan to add all the categories from the Super Mario World Extra Categories that CAN BE RUN on the GBA remake of Super Mario World. Categories that rely on glitches like Orb Glitch or ACE cannot be run on the GBA remake and therefore cannot be added.

-How can I request a Category that does not exist in the Super Mario World Extra Categories? A: Send me a private message or post in this thread including a video (from a public site such as YouTube or Twitch) showing me a full run of your category request. Make sure to include the hardware you used and if an Emulator was used please include which one and which version you used in your run. Your request must be done in a clean unaltered ROM of "Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2" with a controller that meets the requirements of any RTA speedrun including but not limited to the the ban of Up+Down and/or Left+Right at the same time and/or turbo buttons.

-Can I be a mod/verifier? A: The category extensions leaderboard is brand new (opened in Jan 25, 21) little categories and runs have been submitted so no help is required yet. Keep grinding those categories and make sure more people gets interested so I need help and request more mods.

  • How the verification process is done? A: See the video on the How the Verification Process is done thread.

  • Which is the starting frame of my run and which is the final frame? A1: The starting frame is the easiest to find. All categories begin from an empty file, when you choose a new file the screen fades to back to show the intro cinematic. To find the first frame of your run check frame by frame to see in which frame the screen starts to fade. The run HAS BEGAN at the darker frame therefore that must be counted. A2: The final frame depends of the category. Categories like World 1, World 2, and similar end on the Boss Whistle. Similar to the file selection the screen fades to black when Boss Whistle plays. The last frame will be the frame before the screen fades. In other categories, like Yumps, the last frame is the frame the player lands on the switch as long as the player jumps off of the switch. Categories like Feed the Yoshi have a visual cue in the coin counter to help you determine the last frame. Finally for categories based on finishing the game such as 11 Exits, No Cape; 11 Exit, Pacifist; 121 Exit; 150 Exit and 960 Exit; the final frame is the first frame of seeing Princess Peach OUT of Bowser's Clown Car.

  • What is the framerate of the game/console? The game was originally published for Game Boy Advance. All timing will be done using the GBA's original framerate of 59.727500569606 Hz.

  • I think a player cheated their run, what can I do? A: Cheating claims are not a joke. First of all DO NOT harass the players you think they have cheated on private messages or social networks. If you do it you'll also be punished from the leaderboard. Any player accused of cheating will be asked if they have received messages or other forms of accusations via social networks regardless if they cheated or not so even if your accusation is right you'll be timeout or banned from the leaderboard for harassing others. Harassments, bullying, false accusations, flooding the player's videos or streams with accusation messages, among other things will not be tolerated.

The correct way to deal with a player you think has cheated is reading the rules of the category to backup your claim then on a PRIVATE message tell the mod(s) your claim and which is the run you believe has been cheated. Tell the mod(s) the specific reason you think the run has been cheated. Mod(s) will investigate the case and will take the actions needed to solve the problem.

Any cheated run will be taken down from the leaderboards. 1st cheat offenders will be politely asked to not to that again 2nd cheat offenders will receive a 1 month timeout. 3rd cheat offenders will receive a ban from the this leaderboard.

False accusers will receive the similar punishments. 1st false accusers will be politely asked to not to that again 2nd false accusers will receive a 2 week timeout. 3rd false accusers will receive a 1 month timeout. More than 3 false accusations may result in a ban depending on the severity of the accusations.

Please do not cheat, do not false accuse.

I will update this thread if more questions need to be answered in the future.
