Category idea! 16/70/120 stars but getting the stars how Nintendo intended.

Just an idea. Never tried it, but i think it sounds funny. Bljs and Mips Clips are allowed. Not sure, if I should collect Reds how it’s intended. What do you think?

There’s an intended way to do reds?

i think is kinda controversial the "how it was actualy intended" consideration for this starting by the point that this game well, is kind of an open world videogame where you explore wherever you want, more than 1 star is aviable free for when you want... red coins, they have an order or something? no, they are thrown arround the map and you find and get them with your own experience; there is just no an "intended way" to collect them, and even less for 100 coins the closest to "how nintendo intended" you can do in this videogame is doing it glitchless (arent intended obv. lol) and very litle more

I think the only "as intended part" should be HOW you get the stars, not order. Glitches and tricks like cannonless, and island hop/sky jump. Glitches are different than tricks as tricks are not intended, but they do not take faulty code and use it for an advantage. Tricks would include island hop or sky jump, and owless, and side flipping to get the wild blue Star.

I don't think you understand how 16 star works

Not to mention, I think this may just be a backhanded way of making a run that you can have a competitive time in. It's way worse to make a category that doesn't make you learn new strats than to actually improve at the game's movement. Tricks like island hop or owless don't matter if you're not consistent at the regular movement. If you don't want to do glitches in your run, just do 70 star with beginner strats. I'll link bluebob's example 70 star run here: This run makes use of the absolute minimal beginner strats, even excluding almost trivial tricks like lakitu skip.

"Bljs and Mips Clips are allowed."

This defeats the entire point of an intended-route category, since Nintendo did not intend for you to be able to get a star in DDD (or any other stage blocked by a star requirement) early.

So this is fundamentally flawed, and on the basis of this it makes no sense to do that since you might as well just follow the prima guide at that point.

And if you are referring to using the strategies that Nintendo intended, you might as well just do a 16/70/120 run without the time-saving strategies found by the community and submit it to the regular 16/70/120 categories.

I heard people mention in during a live race or marathon, a run where you get the stars as the name of the star says and in order. The idea could be ok so I encourage more runners to post runs here. Also, I dont think that 16 star would count as its not the intended progression in the game and glitches such as lakitu skip would have to be allowed since its hard to separate glitches from mechanics in the gam

lol i missed the part of "mips and blj's are allowed" it realy is the most hypocrite thing ever lmfao like if nintendo intended us to do blj's or mips to skip the whole game yk

GETTING THE STARS HOW THEY ARE INTENDED. Not beating the game how it’s intended. It’s a difference. And there are official ways how to get stars. That is what I mean.

Basque Country

well, is still kinda hard to say an exact way "nintendo spected us to get" some of the stars in a free world game like this, of course beside the glitches you could also ban some exploids like the triple jump to get over a wall in the cave level or walljumping all the road in the bottom star of the snow world, but is not that clear and if we go alredy with the concept of "the stars as intended", is kinda arbitrary allowing other kind of extreme game-breakings because you are not using them for stars

Basque Country

also @Gorilla4054 is right there, after all in big part this is just banning some harder strats for the game and is esentialy a begginers route like the run in that vid
