Japanese rerelease version?

Hey gang, I was looking into picking up the Japanese version of SM64, and came across info on a rereleased version called "Super Mario 64 Shindō Pak Taiō Version", that apparently adds rumble feature and English voice acting. Would it be better to obtain the original Japanese version? I take it to mean the English voice acting may include Peach's opening letter read, which we all know only serves to slow gameplay down lol.

Anyone have any info? And know how to distinguish between the original version and this other one?

If I were you just buy the original Japanese One as that's the one every one gets and it's the best

Shindou edition fixes BLJs and you spin a lot more upon grabbing poles, also, since there is voice, I think intro is longer than original japanese version. I don't know what else is changed, but overall, original is better than shindou.

Shindou has longer loading times, bljs are fixed, and peach reads out the letter in ENG so its like a milion hours slower. :D

shindou is better for many things on single star, but is strictly worse for full-game aka rta

since you're asking about rta and not single star, there is no reason to ever use shindou

Thanks for the input guys. Now, my other question, how do I distinguish between the 2 cartridge covers? Seeing as how they're in Japanese...which pic is on the original I guess I'm asking.

And FIXED blj's?! They were never broken to begin with, amirite? ;D

Hey Guys! So I stumbled across this and couldn't find any discussion about it. NTSC-JPN but with english text apparently. So is this real? I've seen so little mention of it. So I guess if this is in fact as simple as a direct text string replacement that would mean, no intro voice, no box for jrb star, ccm star above penguin, sound glitch etc etc.. But also probably it wouldn't have the fast text boxes of the NTSC USA version so would be slightly slower? Interesting though, very tempted to pick up a copy for novelty and in case something else is a little different!! https://photos.app.goo.gl/9vom0fQ6fsMIuYFi1

It wouldn't be allowed though

ah k, seems strange though, if this is an official release of the game for N64 that's just not as common as the main 3. In any case I've got it, really intrigued about it now! :)

If it an offcial release by nintendo it is allowed but if it like a rom hack its not

The Taiwanese cart is indeed an official version. The one shown is the second release in English, there is an earlier release in Japanese. There is also a Korean version.

Taiwanese and Korean carts are English, as far as in know. It's really, really hard to find a Taiwanese/Korean cart!

I think you actually have the fastest possible version because you have English text, Japanese box locations and no intro letter.
