Homebrew Emulator

I'm new to doing a speedrun for submission, so I wanted to ask this before trying it. If I were to play Super Mario 64 JP on my Wii via Homebrew extension like Wii64, would that be qualified to be submitted as Nintendo 64 Emulator or not qualified at all, since it isn't a Wii Virtual Console due to not purchasing from the Wii Shop Channel or launching via a wad.

Seems like it would be way easier to just install the wad through multi-mod manager lol. More stable, easier, and still free :P

England

That would be classed as an emulator.

Thank you Dwarf, and I am still unfamiliar with a majority of what Homebrew has to offer for the Wii, so I don't know what multi-mod manager is or how to put wads in. My friend tried helping me with Region Unlocking my Wii with Priiloader, but he kinda disappeared after that part since he had to leave, so if you're able to help with that it would be nice, since I tried running Wii64 with SM64 and it was extremely laggy.

England

Wii64 is generally pretty shitty for SM64. I suggest getting straight up VC if you want to stick to Wii or an N64.

Well that's already what I've learned from less than an hour of trying to play. I have the US VC of this already, but I'm wanting to try and get the JP version so I can get better times.

England

JP VC is bad because it's based off the Shindu edition, meaning no BLJs. US VC is what is used among VC runners.
