Exercices for longer bljs

hey!

im trying to learn the bljs in hmc that require you to blj for the whole time the elevator is going up and i find myself having a hard time consistently pressing fast for the whole ride up the elevator; i'll just end up normal jumping cause i didnt press fast enough after a certain point. my arms simply get tired and i let go. since im pretty dumb at knowing how to use a body, i figure i'd ask you guys how you do to hold fast pressed for an extended period of time.

i am decently good with this kind of vibrations, i can pull off about 12-13 clicks per second, but i have a hard time holding it for a long period of time.

what kind of arm exercises do you guys do to be able to hold bljs for a longer time?

sidenote: i have no problems with strength in general. in fact, i am better to do bljs with my weaker arm, so strength has nothing to do with this. also, this is the method I use and have been using since day 1 for fast pressing (with very slight differences):

thanks in advance!

for me, i just practice on a controller and just keep mashing. your body will get used to it eventually and it will be hard right now but if you keep practicing it will get easier and easier.

I do a technique me and my Street Fighter buddies used to call "hyper-bagging" (bc when we knocked the other character down we'd teabag over them at hyperspeeds hahaha). You kind of use your other fingers to anchor your hand to the back of the controller and this allows you to just mash X/A/whatever ridiculously fast with your thumb. It works as long as no specific rhythm is needed and you just need to go as fast as possible. It's hard to explain in words so you can envision it in your mind but yea, that's what I do. The anchoring of the hand is something I learned in guitar/and bass to allow intricate, precise movements without tiring out the hand/arm.

For the HMC BLJ I assume you mean the really difficult one for toxic maze? Not entirely sure why you're doing that right now but you don't need to press A super fast the whole way up. As long as you're BLJing fast enough to keep BLJing, you can keep that momentum up until you need to start moving backward on the elevator and that's when you need to mash fast.

@GothicLogic i mean the one for hmc100, which has the long ass elevator.i know i can do this, but the reason why i made this thread was not to learn the strat, it was to actually get better at bljs. i'd like to learn how to do bljs for long times for other reasons than this one blj in particular.

You dont really need to mash fast for that one :D

Sorry for the total nub question, but isn't all you're doing for every form of blj in the entire game mashing as fast as possible? There isn't any scenario where you can mash too FAST, is there? I guess I'm asking if I mash as fast as possible during every blj execution they should all be successful, correct?

if you get too much speed (via constantly mashing) you'll travel to a PU. without tas you're then unable to get back from there and so will be stuck.

Also Pause buffering can help alot after you do the blj part as it easier to know when to do the inputs

What's a PU defqon?

Ohhhh yea, Pannen and the parallel universe shenannery lol. I've heard of that.

nothing about pus is relevant for any non-tas gameplay. you just need to learn how each blj works since they're all a bit different. some are much harder than others, and how fast you need to mash varies.

So I have to ask my initial question again, if I was to just mash as fast/accurately as possible will that work for every blj, or are there some where you can mash too fast? I'm hoping that since I can mash crazily fast that I can just do my top speed for every blj and assuming I do it right that speed will work for all of them (in 70 and 120 star anyways, I dont plan to play less than 70).

No as Lyfey said all of them require different things and that's something that comes with practice.
