I had this idea for a bit. This is basically like in a 0 and 1 star run but you cant LBLJ so you have to collect 8 stars first. In 8 star you would collect the first 8 stars, beat first bowser, SBLJ, beat 2nd bowser, BLJ and then take out finall bowser. 9 star is the same thing, but you do the sub star in DDD and then the route is same. I searched and didnt saw a single video about a 8 or a 9 star run. It might not be on the main leaderboards, but at least it would be on the CE's.

Sounds like what I used to do back in 2020 but without able just beat first bowser but then I realised that it sucks

anyways, back in 2022, I also think about 8 and 9 star and back in 2022, i decided to run 9 star and give up because of SBLJ

I think that this should be a meme category in the CE categories, or we can try to make this into a main category for people who cant do the LBLJ and SBLJ

Typically, most category ideas that require sblj or ddd skip toward the end of the run get turned down unfortunately due to the the nature and difficulty of these tricks. These are definitely cool ideas, but they don’t really add any interesting routing and/or gameplay to the run. It would suck to get on good pace and then choke sblj or anything afterwards to nerves, knowing it’s going to take forever before you get another shot at finishing with a decent time.

Sounds like Whomps 8 + SBLJ. I personally don't see the value in that. But then, I'm a 70/120 runner who doesn't see the appeal in 0/1/16 Star, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

But, as far as rulesets go, I think this is a valid suggestion. It's exactly as arbitrary as 16 Star. If a category where SBLJ is banned but everything else is allowed (16 Star) exists, then I don't see why a category where LBLJ is banned but everything else is allowed (8/9 Star) can't exist.

The thing is, 16 Star has the the value of being beginner-friendly. It's short, and the mandatory major skips are pretty easy to learn.

8/9 Star does not have that value. SBLJ is a huge barrier to entry, and if you're taking the time to learn it, it's probably just to get a 0/1 Star run (which is true Any%) on the board. Why add Whomps 8 to that? And if you just want a short category where you collect stars, why not just run 16 Star, where you don't have to do SBLJ? Or just do IL's? Basically, there's no selling point to this category. You're not getting anything here that you can't get from other categories.

I mean you're right, but i thought about it because its not on any of the leaderboards.
