Hey, I'm fairly new to speedrunning. I don't have a PC, I have a MacBook, so the only way I can play the game is through an emulator. Using OpenEmu, PS1 rom.

Obviously the loading times and whatnot are likely different. Does this completely rule it out from submitting a run (if i reach that point) or can it be submitted as a new catagory? If it's not eligible at all, will still continue to try and run it and get a decent time, if only for fun/personal achievement.

As far as I know, emulator runs are bunched up alongside their respective console counterparts (playstation emulator runs go in the PS category, N64 emulator runs go in N64 category, and so on). I've personally uploaded a few emulator runs myself and they've been verified, so I see no reason that should be an issue, as long as you mark the "emulator" checkbox when uploading the run.

That being said, I use ePSXe for my runs (which is fairly standard by this point), so I can't say I'm familiar enough with OpenEmu to know if it's a valid emulator. Hopefully someone else can clear that up.

I think as long as the game runs accurately as if on a console then you're good to go emulator side. Just make sure to submit Via the respective console. Also there is a discord. Check the Spider-Man series list for it potentially.

There's already an OSX PPC-native port (easily found online BTW): anything up to Snow Leopard will run it natively, beyond that you may need virtualization (maybe QEMU or Wine or VMware Player); luck is also a factor if you're already on Catalina...
