As said in the title, lag switching is no longer an official subcategory. This was mainly due to zero activity in this subcategory for over a year, which caused it to bloat the leaderboards in an unintentional way. A new category has been made on the Category Extensions page, called "Any% Lag Switch," which contains all of the original Any% Lag Switch runs, as well as its history. If you ever used a lag switch in Any% and got your run verified, it's now on that leaderboard. All other lag switch runs have been officially removed, with the main focus being targeted toward Any%.

All of this, to basically say that the leaderboards have been majorly simplified. This should be an overall good change, but only time will tell.

60 FPS is now the new expected frame rate for all future runs to be capped at, provided you run in the new main 60 FPS subcategory. This is due to a 10-day-long poll and discussion related to this, which resulted in 83% agreement that this would be a good choice. If you plan on doing future runs, you must download and install a patch from the resources tab on speedrun.com. This patch caps the game's FPS to 60, and shows it as well. Even if you're doing uncapped runs, you will still be required to show the game's FPS; a patch was made specifically for uncapped runs, which simply shows the FPS and nothing else.

MasterToolz is now officially banned as of writing this. Due to this, the LiveSplit auto-splitter has now been updated to properly remove load times (as well as making it more consistent and making it split on every level). Also due to this, all MasterToolz submissions have had their in-game times replaced with their real-time times as the in-game times were too in-accurate (on both Shrek 2 leaderboards).

Just like it says in the title, lagless is now the new main subcategory for all categories. As well as this, a rule addition and adjustment has been made, which go as followed: For lagless runs: if your run is suspected of using a lag switch (suspected of intentional FPS drops), your run will be deemed a lag switch run. For lag switch runs (rule is likely to be changed yet again in the future): the definition for a lag switch run is now considered to be when the player changes the FPS cap to be below 60 FPS in the middle of a run to change how the game behaves, rather than simply capping the FPS to any value in the middle of a run.
