I was wondering what you guys think about creating a different category for this game, that doesn't actually complete the game. For example something like Spellstone 1 or Spellstone 2. In a way it seems kinda random but on the other hand, oot has child dungeons which is actually quite competitive and very similar to something like this.

The main reason for me would just be, to have a category that you can run without having 5 hours or more to complete it.

I actually love that idea, Bamboocha! I've just started running this game, and I've been doing runs up to Spellstone 1 to practice for when I end up doing Any% in the future.

I think to save time versus 5-7 hours for the whole game, having a category like Spellstone 1 would be great, as running it takes me about 1 hour and 40 minutes, if I do really well.

Well, categories that doesn't complete the game would be put as Misc categories, but sure, we could do that.

As far as I know, misc. categories are pretty much community driven, so we could do lots of different ones. For adventures, spellstone 1 should be earliest point for a category that's trying to keep full game route in mind.

What are other potential categories? Most of the ones I can think of would be too long (about 3 hours or so)

I think there should also be a Spellstone 2 category. What's unique about Spellstone 1 category is that Gate Keeper 1 Early is viable. A Spellstone 2 category would also be unique since we won't need freeze blast up to spell stone 2, meaning we can just get flame command and leave dark ice mines and go straight to cape claw.

Would we be able to incorporate Gate Keeper 1 Early skip into the Spellstone 2 category? If so I think it would make for a pretty neat and also 'time-viable' category to run consistently.

This is the problem of this game, that it has a few secondary missions (the only one is the maze :P). I don't really know how this works but if the community establish the 1 spellstone category I will do this category!

We can make an "All the cheat token category" jajaj hay don't know.

The other category is the 99% speedrun I think because there are another games that has a 101% category.

But who controls all of this? Because Bamboocha made this post 1 year ago and we aren't doing nothing 😛 .

I'd like to see a any% Glitchless category, i think it's interesting, some people think glitchless is not difficult but good movement is hard enough, imo the seam walk in DIM could still be used cause it's more of a exploit than a glitch i guess, i don't know what all of you guys think about this but i think it would be a really fun category =)

Glitchless at this point and time would be a valid category to add, I remember back in 2013 we discussed it only a tiny bit and the game had too little glitches in it already to make the category somewhat different. We could discuss rules for glitchless in a new thread if you want to make it keanubuze

As I said in another post, a No Save&Quit run would be great. It's like glitchless but without saves and it's allowed to make glitches...

No savequit would literally just add extra walking distance. I can't see a point to it.

No S&Q is only a good run if it makes for other routes and glitches being used. Take Twilight Princess for example. If you are not allowed to save and quit you have to beat the game in a completely different route due to how the game would otherwise lock you in different places.

Yes, I was thinking in Twilight Princess xd. But it's just an idea to put forward. As it says JubJub this category would add extra distance so never mind 🙂 .
