Original DOS version vs. Amiga (time difference!!!)

For the Cup & World Cup speedrun categories, you have to set a new rule in place regarding the original versions.

Original DOS 3min game time = 2:20mins (1:10min per half) Original AMIGA 3min game time = 3mins (1:30min per half, spot on!)

(Reason: When SWOS was converted to DOS they forgot to adjust the game timer to the 70hz frame rate. Amiga is on 50hz.)

We have corrected this bug: https://www.sensiblesoccer.de/forum/downloads/26330-pc-dos-on-windows-swos-96-97-16-17-download-tutorial-online-offline

Please consider adding following rule:

DOS players have to use latest SWOS++ extension to correct original game time bug! Prove: Show main menu with SWOS++ button in your run!

Guys, with all due respect... in the other topics which much less relevant stuff a mod or admin was replying within hours, posting about etiquette. And in here (where it would be massivly important, because of the issue mentioned above) zero replies after 2 weeks... silence. Hard to comprehend! (Personal reasons obviously excluded)

as mentioned in the rules, and discussed in the rules thread, official versions only are being accepted.

unofficial patches or fan-made mods are considered hacks and do not qualify on the same board, largely due to the minefield it creates in most games.

if there was a flaw in the original dos game code about match length, as long as all people are running the same official version/s, this isn't an issue.

the dos version may be split into its own subcategory/s if we get more submissions however: the game physics are sufficiently different, plus timing differences and emulation considerations (eg. dosbox).

@Playaveli moderators and site staff are not at the beck and call of individuals who think things should be run their way, or to jump when they say so. your tone, especially in recent posts, borders on bullying. enthusiasm is one thing, causing upset is something else entirely.

I am disappointed and surprised if you have some kind of personal grievance, but the rules in place have been made to try to ensure players from all communities can compete equally and fairly. I appreciate you have affiliations with other sites, I do not have such affiliations, and cannot expect every runner to have either.

It’s strictly fun and business. It should not be run "my way", it should run in a fair way. Bullying and grievance are strangers to me. And I cannot see what kind of „tone“ you hear from typed words. It’s not important, when it comes down to fairness. Causing upset in trying to suggest more fairness in a competetive matter... how is that possible?

So, let’s comment on the facts. If it’s refused to have the game patch (not a hack!!) for DOS in place, then the only thing that makes sense is to split Amiga/DOS into their own category. Otherwise, the time bug in the original DOS version is, de facto, an issue.

Go ahead, good idea! I‘m happy I could raise some awareness.
