Glad to be running this game!

At first, I was rather skeptical whether I could actually even run Rygar, but with the resources here I managed a 10:59 after only a few attempts. That fell to 9:51 and then 8:34 in the following days with barely 100 total attempts.

I had no idea I could break 9 minutes that quickly, and that run even had some rather poor grinding luck. (The tips on despawning that one particular enemy before grinding was infinitely valuable.)

Right now, the hardest part for me is trying to do the "air-walking" because I can't pull that one off even one bit...

Looking forward to breaking 8 minutes! This game is a nice detour from running Strider, and is also very nostalgic for me :)

Air walking isn't required to break the 8 minutes so you def got that. But it definitely takes some practice, muscle memory, and a good controller (or bad lol).

Thanks for the reply!

I started noticing my averages dropping down towards low 9 minutes, and I was getting some back-to-back run completions, so hopefully I'll catch something good while streaming instead of everything being caught off-camera :)

What would you figure is the approximate time save(s) for the "air-walking" segments, because I see it used in a few different areas?

I'm currently using the "bat-bounce" route right now, of course...

edit: Actually, I guess I should clarify that I'm using the upper level bat-bounce route. I noticed that WhiteHat94 was using the bat on the lower level, which seems a bit faster?

From my calculations airwalking in rosa valley can save up to 7 seconds (if very fast) I typically save like 3-4 seconds per airwalk there. The bottom bat bounce is fastest, followed by airwalking instead of bat skip, then top bat skip being slowest of bat skips for any%. I'd recommend practice the bottom bat skip not just because its fastest but it helps get a good feel for jumping/bouncing/walking to edges if you decide to pursue other Rygar categories.

Well, it sure feels good to finally have a run to submit! :) While certainly not the best, it's definitely a good starting point for me while learning Any%.

I'm going to need to practice that lower bat route quite a bit, because it sure requires an extra bit of finesse to pull off!

What I like about the end of the Any% route is that you have a number of different strategies to use depending on how "the grind" actually plays out. It keeps things from getting boring!

Yup, as long as you can make the jump you are set. You can always finish a run if you really want to lol. If you miss the jump, or fail the first boss ww, you can still do it all over again.

...and you can completely blow a low 7-minute run by pressing for Ligar too early! :(

Still feeling that one! lol
