While streaming I decided to challenge myself to try and beat the game without using any unnecessary teleport shots.
My best total is 99 teleport shots needed to complete the game.
I challenge anyone to do better! :D
Note: I didn't count my total "teleshots fired" for this challenge. I counted the total teleshots I used that were needed in order to complete any given room. It's basically a segmented sum of best challenge for what you know is possible.
Before Rezoons called it a night last night he had a go at it and was in the low 90's though I can't recall the exact number. He said he'd post it tomorrow.

Also I wanted to make sure you guys know, this isn't about being fast with it. It's about finding a route that is possible using the least number of teleshots you could afford.
I was amazed to discover how many pixel perfect jumps there are in this game that I've overlooked.
This is a fun little challenge. I managed to get 89 (did a useless teleport in Grigori's tower that I forgot to count) on a segmented run:
Very low 90's single segment should be doable with some grinding. This is assuming we don't allow the any% glitch which would of course give way lower numbers.
Oh yeah, the stack overflow/rezoons glitch would reduce the numbers drastically. (10-20'ish- I believe?)
Ooh, I could reduce my total by 3! I forgot that you could complete 'The Wall', 'Mirror Mirror on the Wall', and 'Monster Madness' like that!
And that 'Upward Sector' is inspired. GBj's keeping things interesting.

I got 91 yesterday (but i was tired and could have miscounted). I just tried again and got 93.... So, i didn't get better than 89. I also didn't passed any room better than ghuia so his 89 still holds up.
