Ive found a way to get the shortcut on Koopa Troopa Beach with no items whatsoever

The jump button?

Yeah kinda but you have to hit the ramp perfect with a jump at the end. And your control stick has to be neutral

Yeah KTB ramp jump is pretty standard heh You should check out some of the higher ranked runs :)
