Thread: Running on Emulators?

Started by: oreoplaysthingsoreoplaysthings

Hi oreo. First off, thanks for bringing to my attention the lack of rules, I'll fix that in a little bit. Secondly, as of now, we are not going to allow any emulator runs due to a lack of good emulators for any generation six console. However, if you have a console copy of the game, you do not need a video to post a run here (unless you get a really good time). If you dont have a console copy, my advice is to just start practicing on emulator for when you do get the pc version. if you have any other questions, feel free to ask either here, or join the Ty discord.

sorry for not seeing this, it must have slipped in between notifications.

Setting them up as misc. categories was my idea, however now I do agree with you, in that they should be separate games. However, they can only become separate games once you (or someone) does a complete run. Once you have the run done, either you can submit for the new game or you can send me the link and i'll submit it as a new game.

Also, you should def. join the Ty discord. It's an easy way for everyone to contact each other. I th9ink MLSTRM said he would get you a link, but if you need one, just ask.

Like empulent, i use hauppauge hd pvr 2 gaming edition. Its a bit expensive, but worth it as i can record/stream all my consoles, from PS1 to gamecube to Wii U and Xbox one.

So, i want to speedrun this game, but can't do most, if any of the glitches. Could an entirely glitchless category be made, where no glitches at all are used?

no save corruption refers to the glitch you get when you shut the game off mid-save. That glitch would allow you to beat the game in 30 seconds. So no save corruption allows any glitch other than shutting the game off mid save

Hello, this post is for two things

1. Can a new category be made for all levels? i just did my first run of it, getting a little above forty minutes, and I would like to add it to speedrun.com

2. Do you need to successfully do No More Cookies, Touchdown Tommy, and Gold Rush? All three "levels" can only be done after doing a few missions, and unlike mirrorland, can't be accessed again from the house. I did them in my run, but could save a minute easily if its ruled not to do them.

I started doing speedruns when i was nine, as a joke. However, I never really started doing speedruns until I got my capture card. I am, and always will be a firm believer that requiring videos will stop potential runners of the category.

keep current system

new route proposal - keep everything same through wall skip. then, keeping the level skip into wall skip, skip perilous pipes, do clowning around gathering letters, skip under pressure, do Down the tubes normally (no letters), then do barrel blast, and get letters in spin dizzy, getting level skip. Then, do this gate skip and skip ghostly garden, and continue from there. this cuts out getting letters in barrel blast, and doing clowning around a second time, saving about 2-3 minutes I estimate

Whatever happened to this anyways? I thought it would be a cool idea to have a news page set-up, and I still believe you guys should do it.

I have a route made entirely made up - https://docs.google.com/document/d/12fPuYf2ijo4de32Ey5yVYrRtDU1fKlZGRotXnbib78o/

if you want to talk it over, let me know, as I know the game very well. However, I must warn you that I estimate 100% to take around 6 hours, so be ready for that. If you do decide to do a run, perhaps that will motivate me to do a run of my own finally.

If you or someone else would like to run PMW1 GBA 100%, then do a run, and send me a link over this forum. Once a run is completed, I will add it as a category, and then you may submit it.

Thread: Hey! I'm new, and I have a couple of quesions

Started by: d4nnyd4nny

hello there D4nny! glad to have a new runner in PMW2.
1. Im not positive which timer you are using. If you're using livesplit, then simply go into edit and you can add splits (or checkpoints). The game doesn't automatically notify the timer when it passes a level, you need to designate a button on the keyboard to go to the next split and press it when you beat a level

2. In butane pain, you can get eight lives at once, so collect the eight lives, kill yourself, collect the eight lives, kill yourself, rinse and repeat. Be sure to beat the level afterwards though!

3. In regards to using emulator, I want to say that its ok, but if you start getting extremely good times (such as sub 50) then your runs might be looked at more carefully. If you livestream, then it should definitely be fine though. However, that is something ruse is better off answering.

I hope i was a huge help, and I cant wait to see any% runs! - robthegamer117

yes - you can do pp strats, which involve lowering bulbasaur's pp for tackle to 16 and his growl pp to 36, learning leech seed, and putting the moves in the following order - leech seed, tackle, growl. Also, be sure you dont go over level 8. Hopefully I didn't leave anything out.
