Just voicing my support for a new leaderboard category to be created for the glitch run that uses the boys in NG mode. I already have a run ready for submitting, and it seems that there needs to be more support here before it'll be implemented.

For those unaware, GroveAether and rubbertoe64 discovered that you can access a fresh file NG as Riki if you press the Confirm and Cancel buttons at the same time when selecting your character to start the run. Getting player 2 to jump in starts them as Kunio, though I found that you can start 2-players immediately if you also press Right when pressing the other two buttons to confirm MISAKO ONLY (while it's still selecting 1P), then holding either Confirm or Command button through the loading screen.

In this mode, the prompts for getting quest rewards (XP, money, equipment) still pop up, but the boys DO NOT actually get them. The girls in reserve will still earn those rewards as they do when playing normally, but the girls won't earn anything from enemy drops (as expected). This greatly limits the amount of cash earned for shops and puts Riki and Kunio about four levels behind at the end of the game.

The Discord community hasn't picked a name yet, which may be a factor to delaying the category creation. So far suggestions have been
- New Game Minus
- RCR Any%
- Boys% / Shota%
- Crash% / Street Challenge
- No Quest Rewards

"Low%" isn't a viable name since the boys can earn enough money to buy food and moves (but, if a Low% in the future should ever get a leaderboard too, playing as the boys would def. have to be a requirement). If there are any other suggestions or if people want to push a current option, then let's get a name and a couple more runs for this in the hopper so we all can start getting official bragging rights for it!

Interesting, I didn't know about this glitch. I've meant to get around to running this game and even got a NG+ file setup for the boys at level 1, but I just got busy with other stuff.

I might see if I can pick up trying the run sometime, depends on how busy I am and how good my hands are feeling. Definitely wouldn't mind playing the game again!

I like calling it New Game Minus myself, but then again, I've yet to even speedrun the game.

I agree with O.D.W. on calling it New Game Minus, it's more fitting and professional compared to the others.

Got back to RCG recently and I've been playing with this New Game Minus glitch and its rather interesting. Aside from just having to de-rust, it's made me have to learn some new techniques and ways to handle things, mostly on account of being so underleveled and broke.

Still working through the rust, so I can't say when I'll have a run of my own done, but I'm definitely enjoying it.
