Hey there, I am a brand new Speedrunner starting to run on RE1. I am training on the game for 3 weeks now, and I have a pretty decent strat. However, I cannot do better than 40' to 45' on Chris Any% Bad Ending that is quite surprising me because I do very few errors compared to other runs I saw with a time.

I was wondering if this came from my version of the game, which could have a different In Game Time calculation. Indeed, I am playing a french copy of the Game and not Biohazard with Rebirth patch.

By the way, I would be glad to post my run but I am completely lost with tools like LiveSplit and OBS. But if anyone can give me some tips, I would love to share my run via twitch or record it.

We only accept the Japanese version for PC runs. If you use a French version, it can't be accepted. I would recommend getting MediaKite version of Biohazard and use the REbirth patch on that. IGT should be the same for any PC version running with REbirth patch as long as you have correctly setup the IGT script in Livesplit. We also have guides on how to setup Livesplit and autosplitters. You can find these tools under "Resources" to the left there <--- You'll have to find the MediaKite ISO of the game on your own or ask for help within the community and runners for it. I assure you the IGT is probably fine. If you're losing time, remember, this game is very optimized in several categories. Just keep practicing and your time will get lower and lower.

it's less about the in game timer and more about the version you're playing. Japanese text scrolls a lot faster compared with the version you're playing which is a massive time loss in comparison to Biohazard. We can point you in the direction of obtaining the optimal game version but we're not allowed to share the links here, we only accept Biohazard with either v1.7/8 patch or Rebirth when it comes to submitting PC runs so if you want to submit runs you'll need to switch version regardless and we can help with livesplit since we have tutorials in getting it running etc, it's worth noting also that the autosplitters for livesplit will only work for Biohazard anyway.

Don't beat yourself up about your end game time too much you're brand new to this and there will be so many little things you're doing wrong in comparison to others that you wouldn't notice due to experience, like optimal movement and menus which will also account for a lot of your time loss.

Indeed, I believe this comes from my version of the game, as I saw texts were very long to scroll in my version. I will definitely consider getting a Biohazard ISO + REbirth patch to be able to post my run one day :)

Again I am pretty confident of my game strat (no big trouble in mansion part1, Yawn V1 do not bite me, twins can be optimized since I am bitten twice, P-42 never touch me, Yawn V2 can be optimized too since he bites me several times, no big trouble afterward, Black tiger I do the acid strat to eliminate the webs, lab part is very decent, and Tyrant I only do it with the handgun as I have too much rng with the knife...).

Regarding LiveSplit, I will read the guides to try using it but my main inquiries are about the way to trigger the chrono and display it with the game on full screen. I did not find any other means than using OBS and 2 screens, but the display is not OK when the game launches (windows layout is mixed-up when the game is changing the screen resolution). Most runners run the game in a window. Windowed is easier for streamers to manage their chat and other things, even with 2 monitors. Also, when you run the game in a window, it will not change your desktop resolution.
