What do you think of having the Gamecube runs coexist on the HD boards, or having the two releases unified together? Most of the RE games or games in general have had their versions under one board. Granted, it might make things look messier, but I feel like it's redundant to have REmake and HD Remaster separated still when they're essentially the same game.
I used RE4's leaderboards as a reference for this idea that was suggested to me and we just happen to move to full-game last October. All the current versions for RE4 are organized by their respective releases and formats, so we just have to ensure REmake gets the same treatment here. Gamecube runs would still be preserved without being overlooked by the HD runs (ie. being thrown in a general console variable or something). The boards will look like this merged. http://imgur.com/a/6dBZk
Do you feel like the boards should be left as is, or do you think a merge would help keep things organized? :D
personally im not so sure there the same game but tweaked differently as an example remake just had tank controls remaster has hybrid remake also had really bad dogs why would they both run at you thats just bad training the dogs on remaster are so well behaved OpieOP they never ruin a run right ???? is there anyway you could create its own tab as an example one called Remaster and the other Remake its a good idea but im not sure on the overall look i did check your preview screenshot but im still umm on it.
Naturally, if the boards were merged, runs from both versions would not fall under the same categories. That'd be dumb.
I support this idea though. It's easier to find one central hub rather than two - and could potentially bring communities closer.
Yeah, I have no clue what to do with the name if a merge did happen. It would look really tacky having it as Resident Evil REmake / HD Remaster and REmake alone looks inconsistent.
And, yes, you're right StreakOfChaos in regards to gameplay. I meant the games are identical in terms of content with the exception of arrange controls, BSAA outfits, very easy, and online leaderboards. The time differences made possible by hybrid movement is significant alone which is the sole reason I want to keep GC separated from HD. The GC runs deserve their own spotlight as much as the HD runs on the same board.
Also, we don't speak of the GC / Wii dogs on REmake. Kappa Those dogs are the true final bosses of RE.
I wouldn't be able to utilize the tabs for the game name or it would break the entite formatting for how full-game is setup. I think changing the game title would be better. Any ideas for title edits?
Resident Evil REmake / HD Remaster REmake / HD Remaster BrokeBack
These are the only two I can think of. The first one is probably the best option since REmake / HD Remaster sounds like a spinoff or a random title thrown in regardless of the emphasis on "RE".
@GrowthKasei wouldn't the runs still fall under the same categories though? Unless I'm misunderstanding your post then nevermind!
In a way, yes. I agree with how you want to do it. Since you used RE4 as a reference, where they separate the versions based on tabs, but still have the same categories.
The only thing I don't want is another RE2 leaderboard that has all different versions under one banner.
Yeah, I had to look at their boards since it's the only RE with an original GC release still organized under the same board. HD Console, SD Console, PC, and GC/Wii Emulator variables are enough to keep the current structure of the full-game layout here. Adding GC, Wii, PS3, PS4, X360, X1, PC and Dolphin as sub categories instead would look awful. Lol.
I'm not fussed. I don't / won't ever run GCN anyway and it doesn't affect me because of that.
Not entirely sure why RE4 regulates the standard Wii as a HD console, though. Cause those pixels don't look HD to me. OSsloth
I had no idea Wii was even under HD for RE4. I just naturally assumed it'd be with GC and PS2 under SD console, but I never saw any Wii runs posted there. Weird. REmake on Wii would be under SD since that game has no relation to the HD release and it looks like the GC version anyway. BabyRage
It's probably easier to just alter console tabs similar to RE4.
Changing the top tabs would require all runs be moved a second time. Less work and easier to revert if you just add GCN / Emulator to the tabs in my opinion.
Altering the tabs above where the categories are would require a complete overhaul of the boards again and I really want to avoid that. I assume you're suggesting Original and Remaster/HD as a sub-category/value (where character and platform are) though. I'll have to mess around with the values and see how they look. I feel like the title change alone would help clarify that both versions of the game coexist on the same board.
I think both versions are different enough, honestly. Keep them separate. There's enough noise with all the categories.
I did this quickly to have as a reference. I think editing the existing name for the consoles on here would be much easier then add GC/Wii/Emulator. I realized we would have to resubmit everything again if it was done as shown in the picture. OpieOP
I think HD console and SD console would look better. There are variations for original and remaster that could be used if that's preferred. Original (SD) / Remaster (HD) SD (Original) / Remaster (HD) Original / Remaster
I'm not gonna mess around with the boards anymore adding variables. I don't want to accidentally sabotage the boards while trying to remove the temp variables lol. That's pretty much the gist of what it would look like in either photos minus having it as an entirely new variable.
Yeah, I think Resident Evil REmake is better than having "/" and "HD" alongside the title. Less tacky looking lol.
I personally prefer Roo's original idea (HD console, PC, PC doorskip, SD console and GCN emulator. I thought this was going to be a cluster fuck at first, but after viewing Roo's idea, I'm with it.
I'm game, as long as SD console is its own thing a la RE4. It makes sense. I ain't putting in the work to merge, but I approve of the idea.
Please submit all Resident Evil HD Remaster runs to the new boards.
