No, generally the only mods that are allowed are gun skins. |

If it helps, aside from some basic out of maps and elevators, all the glitches used in MW2 runs were discovered by speedrunners - there's no glitching community we're aware of. There's always an interest in any funky stuff people find whether it saves time or not, though obviously more attention is paid to things that look potentially useful above all else. |

Personally I prefer the idea of sorting by players rather than runs, since players is a better measure of a game's overall popularity compared to runs being fairly arbitrary depending on how many categories there are. Not sure if that really matters, though. |

You got the answer in discord, but for anyone else reading in the future you use bind 0 devsave quicksave with 0 and 9 just being the keys I used, they can be whatever. |
Forum: Midtown Madness Thread: Default Cars/Physics Started by: EndothermiaEndothermia |
Physics realism is just a setting in-game so I don't see any reason why there'd be restrictions on it, tuning it to personal preference seems like it should be fine imo. As for downloaded cars, if it's not part of the vanilla game/DLC then that won't be allowed since that falls under file modification, which is p much always banned unless explicitly state otherwise (e.g. some games allow mods to remove RNG). |
Forum: Call of Duty Thread: Quicksave Glitch Started by: PowerSlaveAlfonsPowerSlaveAlfons (edited: ) |
Apologies, wasn't asking if it's necessary, but if it's allowed. In my testing using a script was a lot more consistent and bearable, and demonstrably faster by quite a lot. There's also the issue of the peak performance gain from QS spam being dependant on the drive you're using, since faster spam leads to faster times, but there's a limit at which you QS too much and the game will lag, this being dependant on one's drive. Since the script is very similar to the one used in CoD4 for the elevator glitch, I can't see any reason to ban it on grounds of being a script. Edit: tested the above in MW2, you can QS with it but it doesn't make things go any faster as far as I can tell...at least, not by as large an amount. |

Asked in the discord but lol discord, where does scripting fall into this? a wait script is allowed in CoD4 runs, would a similar script be allowed for quicksaving? Manual QS spam would be a pain for SS runs and it's horrendously inconsistent in comparison to a script where you can set it to QS at the optimal frequency. I deleted my earlier post in this topic, but someone mentioned the CoD4 script so I thought it worth bringing up again since there seems to be some precedence for allowing scripts. |

I just got a new PB (no deaths wooooooo) that's currently uploading, which is probably the last run I'll do unless new strats are found, would there be any interest in making a guide? The most recent one is pretty out of date, and I feel there are some things that wouldn't be obvious just from watching the run. If yes, should it be a commentary over the footage, or would it better if I'm playing the game while doing it? |

Forum: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Thread: Softlock on Contingency Started by: reddaggerreddagger |
The Gulag softlock happens if you breach too fast, you have to make sure Soap says his line and you get the checkpoint before doing the breach - I usually wait 'til the "game saved" prompt appears; wastes a few seconds, but better than having to load your save again. It's important to note that a lot of the game's triggers and objectives are reliant on when dialogue starts/finishes. Fun fact, if you noclip out the bottom of the map you can see two instances of the sewers you go in when you drop down from the shower room - I'm assuming what happens with the softlock is that you skip dialogue which triggers you to move to the instance with Price's room and all the ending stuff, meaning you're stuck in the first instance. This is also why if you "go out the map" to go straight to the bottom of the cell area (instead of going through the armoury and doors and climbing down the rope) you can't complete the mission - you sorta go too fast and softlock the mission |
Forum: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Thread: Softlock on Contingency Started by: reddaggerreddagger |
A few minutes ago I was an hour into a pretty godlike run, which got ruined because Price would just stay in cover instead of going to the submarine, which was nice of him. I'm making this thread because I've encountered this softlock before a few times, but I can't for the life of me find out what causes it. Unlike other softlocks (e.g. breaching too early on The Gulag) you can only find out it's happened when it's far, far too late, and fixing it requires restarting the level which means it's a run killer, so it'd be awesome if someone else had figured out what causes it so that it can be avoided. Thanks! |
