Just started running Lost in Nightmares and was wondering a few things: •Odds of getting a hand grenade in a vase at the beginning (I tried 40 times and got one once) •How much time does the beginning hand grenade save? + is there a backup faster than having Jill play the piano? •Odds of getting submachine gun and is it able to be manipulated? •Are the positions of the enemies RNG or can they be manipulated? •Is the chest with the crank in RNG or can it be manipulated? + backup for blue

Running on PS4 Pro, Amateur if that changes anything.

Afaik almost everything is just RNG in LiN and there's no way of manipulating it otherwise. This includes gun placements, some enemy spawns and chest crank rng. Couldn't tell you the odds of getting the machine gun, and odds of a grenade are very low. Beginning hand grenade saves 17-20 ish seconds and the only other way is to have Jill play the piano.

If there's a green herb on the balcony, then there will be an SMG for Jill to grab. If the green herb isn't there, you have to quit out and restart from the menu since it doesn't re-roll when you simply restart. Basically if you have a Green Herb on the balcony you'll have the SMG. It'll always be there and you can restart as many times as you want. On the flip side if it's not there, it will never be and you need to quit out and start a new game.

1. Start game
2. Look on balcony for Green Herb
3. If no Green Herb, quit out to menu and start a new game
4. If you have a Green Herb, shoot jars until you get a frag and restart from checkpoint until one drops

It's worth noting that it does have to be a frag grenade. You can't do it with a flash or incendiary unless you just want to practice the throw or something.

For the frag grenades, there's ~0.1 to 1% chance I would say. That might change based on the difficulty but for Amateur it's fairly low. That could mean that you get it first try, and it could mean that you'll go 30+ minutes just restarting over and over and never get one. It's possible to get two frag grenades but very rare. In order to make it more fun I look for other rare drops to pass the time. Flash and incendiary grenades are slightly more common than frags. Red herbs and magnum ammo are pretty rare though. I can't remember if I've gotten a red and green herb in the 3 pots that I break but I have hope that one day I'll see it...
