How do people feel about the multi-slash glitch with the Hot Dogger? I've had it a few times when trying in practice but getting it in a run just seems hopeless, I know there are a few that can do it consistently and it seems like it saves so much time in the boss fights, potentially minutes in each. Seems brutally punishing that one trick that awkward to pull off also happens to cost you several minutes in the run. It's too demotivating to even bother with the category for me tbh. I'm not sure what the discussion was back when the technique was found but I couldn't find anything. I'm not sure if there's anything specific about doing it that I've missed but I feel like I'm doing exactly what you're meant to do and it just doesn't work most of the time. Would it be worth having a glitchless category where it's not allowed or is it just a case of well if you can't do it then tough?

Multi_Slashes_Attack after a perfect dodge is the spice of this category. It's a cool trick that makes the category fun , unique, exciting. Stabbing-only Nemmy is so dull you can't imagine cause Slashes from re2r are taken away on this game.

If you don't aim for top3 positions you don't have to worry about the glitch.
However people on the above ranks have worked on it, spent few hours in practice to learn to do it properly and trust me they deserve to be there. No one said it will be easy to execute it consistently, at least at first ,though.All you need is practice practice practice until you feel confident.
As i have explained also in the yt video, it's a hard to learn (learn the timings mostly) but easier to master trick. Understanding what you press and when is vital. (2 for knife and 4 for pistol are ideal keybinds)

And no it won't be a new category for a weapon cancel animation thing that improves the category in the right direction.

I love the multi_slashes in RE3R knife only. On controller, you want the knife and handgun in spots on the d pad that's easily reached by you . I have the the gun and knife next to each other. Up and left are the two i use, that way my thumbs can work together on the dpad. Yes the right thumb has to reach the d pad. I use xbox, so it isn't that bad. Probably harder on Playstation. What I suggest is to not think so hard during the fight on the run. It is all muscle memory from practice and you need that to work. If you overthink it, it won't work. I know that for a fact. I think it's easier at 60fps also. I am more consistent at 60fls

It definitely makes the run better and more fun, nemmy 2 & 3 are very tedious without it. I had a look at LegacyGR's video and it helped, I think my timing was a little off and I was doing the weapon switch too early. Seem to be getting it far more consistently now.

I know how frustrating could it be when you fail it from personal experience ,but eventually you 'll get i. Remeber just slightly tiny faster 4 first with pistol and then 2 with the knife. Rinse and repeat.
I ll make a better edited version of the video with even more examples n the future.

I also just want to make it clear that my post wasn't a slight on the technique at all, it requires really precise timing and makes it a much better speedrun, especially on higher difficulties and takes a lot of skill to perfect. It was probably a meme asking whether a glitchless category would be an idea but it was just frustrating not being able to get it properly and if you don't, the time loss can't really be made up anywhere else in the run. I did some testing just now with controller and it felt more comfortable, maybe switching to the controller for just the boss fights might be a good idea for me.

That's cool, i should mention that with controller is significantly harder cause you have to adjust your fingers on the dpad from analog , all in a small time window,and mash properly also. But if you feel confident with it, it's totally fine.

Yeah the dpad seemed awkward but I use an Xbox Elite controller and have sprint & dodge on the paddles so I remapped the weapon buttons to LB/RB which felt much better

Probably i should add that consistency of your multiattack depends on your keyboard. For example, I couldn't use glitch with my old kb. And i thought that this is my fault: "i cannot using even 2 buttons in right time, why i'm so bad NotLikeThis " But then i chose another keyboard. And all about this glitch became so much easier. I began use it consistently literally in a few day of training. And NO, you don't need some highprice keyboard. My keyboard was cheapest in all shop. As i remember it cost around 250 russian rubles
I wrote this text, because i suppose that it could be not even your fault. May be you need to try to do this glitch with other keyboard OR with other screen settings. Because with 30, 60 and 120 fps it works differently. Than smaller amount of fps, than biggest could be "window" between keystrokes of 4 and 2 (i mean hotkeys for pistol and knife).

I remember Legacy mentioned something like this to me about the different keyboard maybe being better for the glitch. I def plan to look more into this and other settings that might help pull it off better and more often. Honestly love seeing more people give knife a chance in this game. It's definitely one of the best

More testing would definitely help, I thought I was getting somewhere but hit a wall with it again, it's also hard to tell why I'm not getting it, whether it's timing between switching or when exactly in the animation to do the switch. I had it work near the end of the animation and also just after making contact with Nemesis so it didn't seem like a small frame window. Also having more success with a different keyboard sounds like a certain hardware config could make it easier to do. Not sure if polling rate could make a difference? I have a switch on mine with 4 levels that go from 1000-8000hz.

Use whatever is more comfortable for you really.Experiment with others to see what fits you the most. It really is a personal preference and how comfy you are with the keys
