Help Request - New Runner - Why am I slow?

Hello everyone, brand new to speedruning and hoping for some advice. I've beaten Leon A Standard in 1:05ish, but I'm looking to get better.

When comparing my splits to the popular runners I see that I'm getting to the RPD about 5 seconds slow. I hit it at 1:35 when most runners I see hit it at 1:30. That's already almost a 5% difference and it's a minute and a half into the run. Makes me think that I'm doing something fundamentally wrong.

Here's a clip of my run to the RPD - Any feedback or advice would be welcome. Maybe my lines aren't clean enough, or corners are bad? I see a couple of mistakes here, but not 5 seconds worth.

*Splits at the end. Can't seem to get livesplit to stay on top, despite being checked.

looks like you're not stairskating properly, this is probably the most part of your timeloss. But that isnt the only reason, you movement dont look optimal and you take to much time to shot the first zombie.

Agree completely on the first Zombie. I seem to have a lot of trouble with him, I went back and optimized a bit and got a cleaner zombie which gave me a 1:34.

Defiantly still working on getting the stairskating timing down correctly, agree there.

What's not optimal about the movement?

you lose a little bit of speed in around 33~34 secs, the rest I believe is due to you stop to turn sometimes, like in 47, 1:06 and 1:24. I'm not sure if it is slower, but feels like. To be sure, the best thing to do is compare your run frame to frame with Xerian's run.

Thank you, really appreciate the feedback.

I think the problem with the stairskating is not so much the rhythm, but that you're holding aim too long, you should really just tap it. Holding it too long kills your momentum :)
