PS3 run classifications

Hi guys,

Just a quick question as to how runs are classified on the PS3. Basically if you run the physical PS1 game in a PS3 console, which category would that come under; a PS1 or PS3 run? And if it is a PS1 run I take it you would have to have the PSN network version in order to run a PS3 time?

Thanks

Running the RE2 disk on a PS3 would fall under the PS3 leaderboard. Just like when people run RE2 on a PS2.

Probably all of the current runs on the PS3 leaderboard are PSN runs which should fall under PS3 - Emulator. I guess no one ever thought about this since only like the first model of PS3 could run PS1 disks.

Thanks bud.

Yeah I have an original PS/3, that probably explains the times I've been getting, its probably comparable to a PS1 running the as have been running a good 6-7 minutes faster than other PS3 runs. I think I will just do another run with the PSN version then or comparison just seems unfair.

Well I think it's maybe not such a gap as RE1 and RE3 as like I say the times have not been too far from a PS1 run.

Well I have both versions so maybe after I have a decent PSN run I will upload the both and let the mods decide how they want to call it, but like Darazanjoll said I'm guessing the other runs are PSN because there is no way I'm 6 mins faster than the others.

Disc on PS3 loads faster than the regular digital version. I noticed that even playing my PAL copy of RE2, and I noticed faster loading times (but it's still slower than any NTSC version, digital or disc).

Problem is, the point of allowing PS3/PSN runs is to have an equal ground to compete, because a lot of people has a PS3 and everyone that has one can pretty much buy and download the PSN version available there.

If someone runs the NTSC disc version and can get a faster time than PSN just because of the loading times I think it defeats the purpose of allowing PS3 runs at all because we're back in PS1/PS2 region lock territory in which you're behind an extra paywall to compete with NTSC disc players.

the best thing to do would be to add PSN to the platform Variable i guess, i assume all current PS3 runs are PSN anyway
