So recently I got the Japanese Sourcenext version of Resident Evil 2 and tried to set it up. For some reason though, the installer won't display Japanese text but pretty much gibberish, that's not a problem though. The problem is that when I open the setup.exe on the CD, I press the second button above ReadMe (which is probably install or setup), and a small window opens with this text: "????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????". I tried using compatibility for Windows 95, 98, XP SP2 and SP3, but the same message appeared. What should I do? Thanks.

The installer always has that gibberish unfortunatley. I had a similar issue so would recommend using this tutorial:

If you are on windows 10 then I would recommend creating a folder in your program files and copying the contents over from the open iso file to the directory including the patch from the resource section. The channel I have linked above also has a tutorial covering this technique.
