Basic Movement Tutorial Series
Updated 5 years ago by DJTHED

There's not a whole lot of resources out there for new blood for Rayman Legends, so I decided to make a series of Rayman Legends tutorials that will go over basic movement of Rayman for speedrunning. I'll also at a later date start making Advanced Movement Tutorials as well as Individual Level Tutorials for Any% Speedruns (Not for Wii U or Vita in most cases though). Hopefully these videos will help newer players understand the physics of this game better.

Part 1: YYB/YBY So here's the first part, and I decided to go over the tech commonly called the "YBY" or YYB" tech first. It's simple to execute and very useful:

Part 2: Roll Jumping Roll jumping is one of the most important things to learn for basic movement. It's important in allowing you to preserve momentum, gain momentum, and gain extra jump distance to make jumps you would normally not make:

Part 3: Slopes Slopes are one of the easiest ways to gain speed, as well as one of the easiest ways to lose speed. Slopes are pretty intuitive so hopefully a shorter video like this one will suffice:

Part 4: Air Kick Canceling Air kicking in this game is exceedingly good at a lot of things. The fact that you can cancel the air kick really quickly after using it with a hover allows you to use it for many things, such as air kick stalling to save you life, or to cancel into another air kick to speed up boss fights:

Part 5: Ground Pound Techniques The Ground Pound move does a lot more than just sending you downward as maximum speed. It's useful for landing on high platforms normally too high to reach. It's good for attacking enemies that are above you, as well as ground pounding on bumpers that are above you. All of this is possible primarily because the ground pound animation actually brings you up a little bit before it launches you downward:

And more parts to come later. Also if anyone here has any ideas for other things I should cover that I might not have otherwise, let me know!
