Using Remote Play to record runs.
Updated 3 years ago by Wavernor

Remote Play can be used to record runs on a PC without needing a capture card. Using Remote Play to capture runs loses ~10 seconds due to an additional menu appearing when performing Ship Animation Skip(SAS)

To set up remote play:

  1. Ensure you have a PSN account that isn't the account you use for runs. .
  2. Then log onto this account on your PS4, and on your PC through the Remote Play application.
  3. Then connect your controller directly to your PS4 and sign into the account you use for runs.

This will let you:

  1. Stream the video output of your PS4 to your PC.
  2. Directly control your PS4, ensuring that there is no extra input lag.
  3. Allow you to perform Ship Animation Skip(SAS) - if you connect your controller to your PS4 through your PC, you will be unable to turn your controller off, and therefore be unable to perform SAS.

To record your runs in OBS:

  1. Open up Remote Play and connect to your PS4 before starting OBS.
  2. Open OBS.
  3. Add a new window capture source
  4. Select the correct Remote Play window from the drop down menu.

Once you have added the window capture to your scene, make sure to not open up OBS before connecting to your PC through Remote Play. If you do, the window capture will capture the start connection window, instead of the gameplay window.
