Hello, I think it would be a good idea to add Level Leaderboards for some of the speed based minigames. I feel like the normal speedruns that involve playing on a board with bots can get a bit stale and it would attract more players since the minigames are shorter and more skill intensive.
I agree I sent one run for review on Miniature Motors Link: I think there should be level leaderboard for mini-games. In my opinion speedrun suitable mini-games are: Foggy Fall, Miniature Motors, Mystery Maze, Rolly Ragdolls, Rotor Race, Rusty Racers, Sidestep Slope, Slippery Sprint
hello! i've added the categories on the main leaderboard for the applicable minigames :)
@yeabruh
Hello! Some mini-games also have a competitive connotation and I would really like to see the list of mini-games also included: Batty Batters, Foggy Fall, Fractured Faces, Pack and Pile, Sandy Search (the fastest treasure finding), Sorcerers Sprint, Swift Shooters. Thanks!
will take a closer look into those games. thanks for you suggestion! some of them do look like can be speedrun material (as you pointed out in Sandy Search) while some others look like more of a high score thing than speedrun (take for instance Batty Batters. that minigame afaik goes on until the timer stops, but you can get a high score from precise timing of the bat)
Confused the concepts of competitive and speedrun component, I'm sorry.
Suitable modes for adding: Fractured Faces (assembling the puzzle at speed);
Pack and Pile (building a tower for speed), and, as you already mentioned, Sandy Search (finding a treasure for speed)
Some mini games are for sure skill based and you can get higher scores on. It would be nice just to document the highscore since some games are time locked and you have to do the full allotted time
good point. i think i've seen src leaderboards go for high score. let me take a closer look though
update: i've added the minigames fractured faces, pack and pile, and sandy search
however, i am planning to migrate all speedrun-based categories to a new parent category called Minigame Speedruns. this is to make way for possibly another parent category called Minigame Highscores
as always, thank you all for your anticipation and patience!
Hey, I'm just wondering how come the minigame runs are considered full game runs while the boardgame runs are considered level runs? I thought it would be the opposite.
good point. when the leaderboards were set up, the minigames were not included. and then since there's a demand for the individual minigames, we decided to include them. however, despite them being more appropriately belonging in the levels leaderboard, we thought of putting them on the full game leaderboard so that it's more easily accessible. I'm not sure if that is still the case now that src has drastically changed its UI and i haven't dabbled the configuration for the levels categories
[edit: checked the leaderboard view and it's not as bad as it was before. i feel like it's easier to access the levels leaderboard now. in which case, will need to work on adjusting the categories]
hi, apologies for the long inactivity. categories have been reconfigured. unfortunately, the minigames couldn't be transferred to the Levels leaderboard due to src category assignment limitations. was looking to add an any% category for time-based minigames, and a high score% category for high score-based ones, but src would only be able to present it such that each minigame had both these categories.
as a result, only all map-based runs were transferred into the Full game runs leaderboard, while the minigame speedruns and mingames highscores remained in the Full game runs leaderboards.
