snes version is wayyy easier than GEN, haven't played PS1 yet but want to.
I downloaded the version from archive.org and it randomly started freezing when finding new areas with cards (not sure what those are called). Did anyone else experience this? Is there a better version to get (I'm running on windows 7)? Is there a fix? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Considering how different each version is, I would say there's a good chance of that but we would need to do some timing to know for sure. Oddly enough the Jaguar version is what I played it on when I was younger haha.
Ok looks like I need to use variables for the different versions to make it less cluttered...will look into that and update asap.
Added Genesis (will add GB after I confirm rules can be the same). Not sure if there's a better way to do it than I did. Also, how do you all feel about making Level (SNES) the main category? It has the most runs...seems to make sense. Edit Went ahead and changed it...can change back if necessary.
Also, if anyone is wanting to add other console versions just post here and we can review any differences to ensure it needs it's own category. Irie and the rest of the community, please provide your opinion on my suggestion for emus.
Irie, I don't actually think you don't want the game to grow but it did seem like the decision was not given much thought especially when someone was actively running it on gameboy and I had a run on genesis. I do apologize for being a bit harsh however. I'm just glad we can get some extra categories added now. All emulators can run a bit different depending on the system and the emu itself so I think we will just have to take things on a case by case basis. I think leaving it open for emu for now makes sense. If we see a run that is clearly running faster (which I will be happy to do the legwork on) then we can ban that specific emu and/or make a separate emu category. Also, for now it seems that adding a Genesis and Gameboy category makes sense. Thanks for adding me on as a mod and I hope there are no hard feelings. ZOOOOP.
It's been 27 days since my last post regarding the changes made with no response. Iriebutler is now the only mod, I have sent him a message on one of his VOD's on twitch (the only way to contact him) asking to discuss making some changes (adding genesis and gameboy at least) as well as requesting to be a moderator. There is no reason we should not be offering other console versions and I believe that emulators should be allowed unless we can find specific reasons why they should not (some systems/emulators run much better than others compared to original hardware).
Hi all, since we just had our first emu submission I think emu options should be discussed. While running splatterhouse 2 it was discovered that Fusion handles lag very poorly which led to significant time saves. I'm not sure if this would have a direct impact with race drivin' but I just want to give any emu runners a heads up that this could impact submissions in the future if we are able to confirm it has an impact. It was found that Genesis Plus GX or Bizhawk handle the lag emulation best so it's recommended to use either of those options. Just putting this out there in case there is a new WR run posted on emu since Char tore up the tracks on her first day. Any questions, suggestions, comments, whatever let me or Punkin know.
soooo....let's add the other systems as separate categories then yeah?
p.s. - I had my friend hold a (sealed) copy of zoop on the SGDQ couch. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D9_S90nU8AAaIM7.jpg:large
Thanks for speaking up Coolestto. Let's use this as a learning opportunity though and get this game some attention it deserves. I do think splitting up the game into different versions makes sense (Genesis vs SNES difference is huge in practice for example). Also, firmly agree about emulator. From my understanding it's typically emulators not handling lag well that makes a big difference. I don't think zoop sees much (if any) lag so the differences between emu and console should be negligible. Also, I would love to be a mod if possible. I will be playing a lot of zoop in the future and can help with verifications and/or decisions of this nature.
lol just saw all of this...why not just add different categories for each console. And banning emulators with no specific reasoning seems pretty aggressive. I'm a firm believer in having emulator restrictions but man...are you guys just trying to get people to not run this game lol?
Feel free to ask any questions and/or provide any strats/ideas not covered in this quick tutorial.
Agreed, would be good to have this added as a resource
Covers the new strats that are being used. I know I missed some things so if you have any questions feel free to post in here and I will do my best to answer them. Go to the youtube page for relevant links.
