Thank you so much for giving some video footage of those tricks! It's very appreciated!
...Although I'll always be much worse than you in this game :P
I know I'm pretty much a year late now, but... I decided to take care of it this evening! The cropping and compression is not quite perfect, but... it's done! I hope you'll enjoy it ^^
I won't lie, I would LOVE to contribute to the NES/retro speedrunning community in general, since it's been so kind and encouraging to me in the last year or so since I joined it <3 Though I should probably get a run on the Normal category of this game as well now that I think about it ;-;
Actually, I noticed that in Stage 2 - to give one example - The speed at which the huge red mechas explode is the exact same as in the NTSC version, and the same applies to the 60 invicibility frames Nova gets whenever he gets hit. Finally, the speed of his walking/running animation (which is of about 15 frames per sprites, of 4 sprites per second if that makes sense :P ) is at the very least extremely similar to the USA version, too ^^
I understand why this run would be suspicious to some - and honestly, I was suspicious at first too a few months ago! - but I am convinced it runs at the same speed as any NTSC cart :)
Anyway @xenkaroshi is right, let's just drop this and try to rebuild this mod community, yeah?
While we shouldn't really go off-topic, I think his WR on Expert is still legitimate, since the framerate and game speed of his run seems to perfectly match the vanilla NTSC version of the game. And besides, as far as I know, there's no regional differences between the PAL and US release of Power Blade ^^
And I mean, if anything, he should know better than anyone what's legit and not legit to update to the leaderboards, no? ^^
That's a shame, I hope he's doing okay ;-;
But yeah if spyriel's really for the idea, it's good to know that we at least have one mod for this game! ^^
That's okay @xenkaroshi ! That's a very good point so don't worry about it ^^ But yeah we should def. know for sure about what happened to Butz, just to make sure we actually need a new mod in the first place :P
If Butz really is gone... well first off that REALLY sucks and second, well I don't think we really have anyone else to mod this (great!) game afaik
Honestly though? I wouldn't mind taking one of the spots for moderation, since I'm very familiar with the game and its speedrun, and I'm logging in very often on this website as well ^^ But regardless, I hope we'll find someone new soon ;-;
There's also the point that people tend to go for the JP versions of many games. That's because most of them are faster to run through because of the Japanese text, which requires less space/characters compared to English text. So I'm really wondering why a faster version of this game should be banned from this game, since a similar advantage - which is, a difference in a game which saves time over another version - is present in many, many games and widely accepted by the community. All of this just seems really inconsistent to me :/
What exactly do you mean by the "6th pass"? The very last stage of the game, or a section in the first stage?
Hi everyone! So I've been messing around with learning how to feasibly do this meme run, but I have noticed that there's a couple foot soldiers (namely in Stage 1) who I cannot despawn. I also don't think there's a way to progress through some parts of these stages without squishing them. My question is: should it be allowed to crush those undespawnable foot soldiers, like how it's allowed to destroy the unavoidable barriers? And if it's not, does anyone here know any tips on how to avoid/despawn those enemies?
Thank you all and have a good day ^^
I assume this means getting as far as "Stage 99" in the game, as fast as possible of course
I just read your review on Steam and it was... entertaining xD
Still it's a shame to see that the collection ended up being subpar ;-; I REALLY wanted to give some support to my favorite franchise :(
I wish I knew... As far as I know there is no capture card made specifically for the GBA, be it the original or SP model, so... :|
Hey everyone, so while I was reading this topic, I just kept wondering about this... I get that the current WR holder(s) of these categories must be very respected in the community due to them being skillful players. O also get that yes, recording speedruns of any GBA action game must be very, very difficult for many reasons, but...
To use this run as an example, how did Lafungo make sure that Shock's run was legitimate? Was there a screenshot of the time, alongside a Game Boy Advance that's playing MKSC? Was there a SRL log that could confirm this time happened? Or was there something else I missed?
I apologize if I come off as annoying, I'm just... well, curious about how those runs get verified, if at all ;-;
...You just disabled it lol This is fine as is :P
According to the game's speedrun rules, the only emulator that isn't allowed is "Gotvg" I suppose that everything else should be fine
