Figured we could have a thread on the routing of the game.

Recently I've been thinking on possible improvements on the speedrun outside of trying to teleport to convenient areas and thought of whether the routing can still be improved. I'm certainly aiming to see if in-game sub-30 is possible and figured a minute or two of walking time could be saved on Thursday and Friday by taking advantage of getting arrested (though I haven't tested this).

What I'm thinking is this,

Thursday: Get 25 dollars from one of the hillbillies on Wednesday Head to Krotchy as the first objective, give the money, get the doll, krotchy objective done. Head to the napalm factory, get the napalm launcher (napalm objective done) and instead of escaping, just get arrested by the police officer that's very likely to have chased you and is right in front of you. You're in the police station, escape the cell, go downstairs to one of the rooms to get the ticket (optionally as a safety strat for single segment runs, head further on to reclaim your weapons). Head all the way upstairs to drop the ticket into that drop box and escape through the top floor window. Ticket objective done. Then simply make your way to the meat factory and run that like normal, the day finishing as you leave the factory stage. That should possibly save some time running between the police station and the napalm factory. Might also be beneficial over the 30-40 seconds spent detouring to get 300 dollars (or a lot of stress trying to manipulate the NPC to come at you for segmented runs).

Friday: Head straight to the junkyard first, pick up the alternator (alternator objective done) then go to Uncle Dave. Blow up Uncle Dave with the desired method (Uncle objective done) then get arrested, preferably pick up the nearby health pipe before the arrest. You're at the police station, go downstairs and regain your weapons/health items and head straight to the post office. Pick up the parcel (post office objective done) and go through the last bits of the game as usual. I'm disputing whether it's any faster if you go to the junkyard then the compound than just running it normally due to the longer walk to the junkyard but I figured it's probably easier to get arrested there than trying to find a police officer after the junkyard (and if the difficulty's Insane-O, staying alive while getting arrested).

I'd figured using the arrest trick from Thursday would be best since it'd take longer to go from a deeper cell to get your ticket then back up to the drop box but feel free to play around with that route and see if it's much more beneficial.

For Enhanced mode, I probably wouldn't use those tricks since the speed you're travelling with the shovel should negate any time advantage you'd have otherwise (or would work out to be faster flying anyway).
