First, I need to admit that you can get a wanted level again after getting wasted/busted or loading a save file.

Secondly, Cops still spawn, since you keep getting a wanted level for a frame or so all the time. They can bother you in Monster and when you want to take off with your cropduster, otherwise, they are fine.

Otherwise, (almost?) everything is explained here. Activate subtitles, they add important info!

There is an alternative where you blow the plane up before it takes off. You use the SF airport and an RPG. And om0 Vigilante ofc. Recording a video and then editing.

Taking the call gives control earlier. Having a call at all gives control earlier. It is possible but hard to do without a call but you get a call anyways, unless you have to steal a cop vehicle for Vigilante first and cannot get rid of the wanted level which is hard without a bribe.

I start the flight almost as late as possible, if you start it too late, it crashes.

Pressing sprint before - I think before the "skip" text ends - takes your control away from the camera and you have to suicide with satchels and start over.

Reset, I have probably found the cause of the cancelling like it happened for you in Verti Bird.

It's a different vehicle getting the same handle as the plane. So let's say the plane got the handle 1234. When the game wants to know if that plane is wrecked it uses this command: IF IS_CAR_WRECKED 1234

After you blow up the plane and leave, the plane disappears so there is no vehicle with the handle 1234 anymore but the game keeps on checking if the vehicle with the handle 1234 is wrecked (non-existent vehicles count as wrecked).

After the plane disappears, handle 1234 is free for other vehicles to take again - and if some random vehicle gets the same handle then that command returns false (is_car_wrecked 1234? false!).

And now that the game thinks that the plane is not wrecked (after a bunch of code that I did not understand) the code checks if the "plane" has any recordings attached (that it "plays back" by flying on a set route I guess). That's also false, so it just fades and teleports you to the airport of the city you are in at that very moment - either that is a fail-safe ("wtf is this, let's just end the flight, be safe") or intended ("ok, there is no car recording so that must mean the flight is over.") - I do not care enough to get the info to make an educated guess.

Cool stuff. I love this game so so much when it comes to stuff like this (no sarcasm) because what other game comes up with the most random bullshit ever to kill runs and lose time like this? Hilarious

Oh, I forgot to admit that I used cheat engine to cause the problem.

Nick says that it is possible that two vehicles get the same handle (ofc the first one has to disappear first so that the handle becomes available again).

But for that to happen, I'd have to stand next to a highway for hours and hours. :D

Nick has looked into it:

Changes to the GTA:SA leaderboard

The GTA:SA community has been deteriorating over a long period of time. Many top runners are not currently present on the leaderboard. This issue has not been seriously addressed yet, but an attempt will be made to remedy it now.

As of this news post, the San Andreas leaderboard will function in
