Hello Sonic CD runners and community members.
I have created a Google doc guide that details how to implement custom music for Sonic CD. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this tutorial then please let me know so I can address them. Please note that audio modding as of the current moment is only supported for any version of the game that supports the method described in the document.
The addition to include the rule stating that custom music is allowed for the game will be placed under the "Game" rules tab.
Lastly, checks towards modifications that change the gameplay or provide unfair advantages compared to the base version of the game will be tracked by the mod team, as the option for implementing custom music is now allowed. Necessary measures will be taken if any red flags are noticed in runs that are submitted.

Question then. The oldest Sonic CD mod (going back to 2009) is the Enhanced Hybrid OST mod (cherry picked US/JP tracks); but the ISO that comes with that also updates the sound driver so that the jump SFX get passed to the normal sound chip in the Genesis giving Sonic his normal Sonic 1/2/3 jump SFX.
Is that alternate SFX allowed?
In light of having to reject a run recently due to a modded rom that adjusted more than game music, I feel it necessary to come back to this thread and clarify that official versions of the game will only be accepted. Runs on modded roms of any kind will be rejected. It's very simple to adjust the music, as outlined by the document created by Xandre(replacing tracks within the folders of the CD rom).
