As speedrunners, we likely all know about the moonbeam door skip in BBI. What if we did that, but bigger? Completely skipping the Dragon Door could shave up to 40 or more seconds off of any given run, and completley remove the RNG element from that scenario. We should, as a community, work on achieving some sort of Dragon Door Skip. Update this forum post with ANY discoveries we could find, or your thoughts on the skip as a whole.

There are no barrels in the Tainted Mountain, but we may be able to pull off a damage boost through the invisible wall that's inside of the door asset! That's right, the door itself is NOT a solid object! You clip halfway through it when running into it, implying the only thing separating us from the Dragon is an invisible wall.

Update 3: They have a failsafe in BBI for skipping through the barred doors, which implies the loading zone past the Dragon Door may not activate until those doors are open either - however, until I make it past the invisible wall (a feat I've attempted but have yet to succeed in doing) I won't know for sure. I've enlisted a modder (LDKSuperDante) to, in his free time, see if he can figure out anything from the game files and props in the room and such.

Update 4: We have a problem. Damage boosting would be too precise, however I found a way to, within the games boundaries, almost perfectly manipulate the gorechimera's attacks. Killing the goat sends him into a cyclical frenzy, in which he runs up to you, stops a few meters away, roars and lunges at you. Forward rolling slightly left to his attack, immediately jumping and grabbing will allow you to grab the tip of the snake's nose. I will have footage of this as soon as the video is fully edited, however until then note that I have also tried using this snake's tendency to disobey walls to my advantage - to no avail. The Arisen is taken off of the snake if the threat of a wall pass appears. My next idea is to get my modder friend to see if the invisible wall is shorter than the door - if so, a Ladder Blade could he enough to launch me over it. More on that later, as this requires a lot of preparation for me to perform.

Not a skip, but a great refinement. If there's one thing I learned about the Gorechimera, it's that it isn't luck that decides how he hits you - it's your position. I have a video brewing where I get EVERY dragon door pressure plate on the first attempt. The catch: we've been routing it wrong, and we can't have ANY pawns. Follow roughly what I did in my video, and stay to the relative sides of the gorechimera, and he will almost always perform his paw attack which is perfect for the plates.

Dragon door optimization I also have interest. I can't join NG+ as I will delete the save data immediately The pressure plate depends on the weight, the time required for application varies, 2000 kg Gorechimera activates the switch in 2 seconds Any% can kill Gorechimera and activate one switch in 3 to 4 seconds with a 500kg character, which is very difficult. With NG+, you can get a total weight of 700kg with Arisen and pawn. (If you want to launch Pressure Plates on your own, you need at least two characters,)

Why doesn't NG+ use the Jewel of Vicissitude to kick cows? For one minute, the cow can continue to kick while maintaining a healthy physical strength.

Wait, the Jewel of Vicissitude keeps the cow from losing health for a full minute? That's amazing! We use Ne'er do part every 2 kicks to effectively keep his sprint at max, but that could help in another way, i.e. with keeping the ox like that, there's no real need to stop for anything. Maybe it can be used to glitch the ox into an infinite sprint somehow?

Jewel of Vicissitude has the effect of continuing to restore the health of you and the characters around you. This healing effect does not target locations, but directly targets characters.

Wow, the Jewel of Vicissitude seems pretty nice. I didn't use it when I played casually, so I didn't use it in my runs. I don't know why I didn't come across it when planning out the route.

Good work with the information about the dragon door. If the gorechimera manipulation works consistently, that's a big improvement. I wish you both luck in finding some good optimizations! Sorry I don't have the time to help.

This video was run by the developers of Dragon's Dogma to promote NG + mode. It is introduced in Japanese, but I would appreciate it if there is something that can be conveyed in the video part. This video says that if you can't clear it within 30 minutes, you'll change your lower body to caterpillar. That's all from me.

I'll check out the video right away! And @glasnonck you're gonna wanna check out some of the other things that were found. I'm still considering making the sum of best segments run, a community spliced run where all the best runs submitted get put together so we can see a rough fastest possible time
