Guess asking for mod is out of the question

Hey there guys.

Glad to see that this leaderboard is up and running. I also submitted to get this game up, but you guys beat me to it (good job)

Anyways, guess asking to be a mod would be out of the question at the moment.

Though I do have a suggestion for the leaderboards, have it split between Console and PC. And maybe have a split for Local and Online?

Also for timing, i believe it should start when you hit start game, and end when it is the last handshake. but up to you guys

Antarctica

It has nothing to do with how popular you are as a runner, its always been first come first serve, as for regarding the timing rules, i have updated the Any% rules to reflect what we think the timing rules should be.

Oh, I know it was the first come first serve mentality.

Personally I don't like that timing rule, only for the fact you aren't doing anything after the final handshake, with the final handshake being the last input. you are just sitting there waiting for the time to end. it artificially adds more time to a run that isn't really needed.

Antarctica

But the timing is different between endings whether you end it on the handshake or not, and leo's ending to the credits is the fastest. Also the game is pretty much mostly cutscenes anyway, so whats the difference between sitting there waiting for the credits when you have had to sit there waiting for cutscenes to end for the majority of the game anyway?

Antarctica

We started using the handshake to time it at first, and frankly i prefer it, it makes the final split seem more impactful, but it just doesn't work well, for the fact that lets say somebody does a run and its vincents ending, and vincents ending is faster to the handshake, but somebody else did leo's ending ending which is slower to the handshake but faster to the credits... so it makes more sense to do leo's ending and have the timer end at the credits.

Antarctica

And if somebody does vincents ending to the credits, well then you can't really argue because that is technically where the game actually ends... you see what im saying?

British Columbia, Canada

I mean, if you are doing it that way, why not just go full Japanese RTA where we include the credits as well.

Personally I find the last input should be where the timer ends, it just makes the most sense to me.

Antarctica

So do i, i prefer when it ends on the last input aswell, but for this game inpaticular it just doesn't make sense to do so.

Actually better point instead of adding credits...

Look at a game like 'Life is strange' where the timing ends on the last input, and that is a game not much different then A way out

You literally said "but up to you guys" in reference to the timing, yet apparently it really isn't is it, just because you dont want to watch the final cutscene? If there wasnt multiple endings then i would be all for ending the timer on the handshake, but like i said, with the 2 endings its different, Vincent's ending gets the handshake sooner.... but his ending is slower to the credits meaning if somebody DOES Leo's ending then their run will be slower.... BUT their run is faster to the credits, and the game ENDS at the credits, There is no difference in timing for the credits themselves so that doesn't matter. I'm trying to make it fair for each ending by having it end at the credits because that is where the game actually ends, not at the handshake.

British Columbia, Canada

No it is still ultimately up to you. you guys are the mods of the game, you have full control over what is the ruling, i'm just trying to give my point and reasoning behind it.

but it seems we have different views on how it should be ran, and won't be able to come to an agreement.

Antarctica

There is nothing from stopping you from timing it your way bud, just remember to leave in the final cutscene to the start of the credits so i can retime it to fit the leaderboard timing :D

Indiana, USA

Personally, I find waiting for the cutscene to be moot. If someone chooses to do Leo's end instead of Vincent's if their own fault. If you want it to be fairer then you could split the two and have one for each end.

Antarctica

The whole reason why im saying it should end on the credits is because Leo's ending is faster to the credits which is where the game actually ends, but in the case of ending the timer on the Handshake then Vincent's ending would be faster but the game does not end when you do the handshake, it ends when the credits begin. So from a logical point of view it should end on the credits for this game in paticular.

Indiana, USA

The only thing you can do once you handshake is end the final cutscene. Which honestly isn't something we should have to watch, mainly because it doesn't add anything to the run. Once you handshake you don't have any more actions to complete. And once you hit credits you can do the same skip ending that you can do while during the cutscene. It just doesn't make sense to have to watch a ~7-minute ending, which doesn't add much to the run.

Antarctica

Ah fuck it, the majority seems in favor of having it end on the handshake so i will oblige, resubmit your run guys and ill verify it, i will also change the rules, i would prefer ending the timer on the handshake anyway.
