Why is everdrive not allowed?

My most recent run was rejected due to being played on everdrive. This isn't that big of a deal to me because I own an original cart, I'm just curious if there's any differences in how the game runs. Everdrive takes much longer to boot and caused me to lose a ton of time just to the resets after each cup. Seems like playing on ED is strictly disadvantageous. Is there any other differences in the way the game is ran? I'm not trying to protest or anything, my time was awful, just curious on what the reasons are. Maybe the mods can shed some insight.

I also think if everdrive isn't allowed it should be explicitly stated somewhere in the rules so no one else has to make the same mistake I did.

Also would like to re-iterate that I'm not trying to be "that guy" who complains because his run was rejected. I'm just genuinely curious what the differences are and why it isn't allowed.

Since the N64 category is our main category, not allowing everdrive is more about making sure people are running on an unmodified version of the game. There's also some framerate differences when playing NTSC with a PAL console and vice versa although people submitting a run doing that is pretty rare (you weren't doing that either but just another example)

There is a line at the bottom of the rules about the hardware although I'll rephrase it to explicitly list out the details

Makes sense, thanks for the info. Gonna be submitting a faster time soon, ill make sure my future runs are on original hardware!
