Speedrun tips

Couple of things I've picked up in the last month+ of running this game, take them or leave them, but they helped me get better.

  1. When selling your deck/cards if you right click them then hit the S key, it'll sell the card much faster than clicking on it

  2. You can clear the stops on your opponents turn (and even your turn). If you load a game, jump in a duel and look at the red dots on the turn phases. You theoretically can remove all of them except your 1st main phase, since the deck we build doesn't need to use anything outside of 1st main phase and our attack phase.

  3. The 10 key on your keyboard is the absolute best for navigating dungeons and the overworld, all 8 directions at the tip of your finger.

  4. the map has roughly twice the range of your screen, so every 15s or so when searching for castles it makes sense to quickly check it.

  5. Anything you can use the enter key for, do it, steps in the turn, accepting cards after beating castles, all of it. Much faster than moving your mouse over to try to click on it.

Tips I picked up from kingsaluman:

  1. F2 brings up the menu and you can enter right out of it; much quicker than running your mouse up there and clicking it.

  2. If you start at/near the red castle, you can attempt to clear the first castle without picking up a shivan. You will need to find eternal warrior on the boss fight, but its completely worth it because you can get the shivan from beating the castle and be done with your deck and have a castle done in 2 minutes if you're lucky.

Any other tips out there? post them here! let's see how low we can drive this WR down to!

Good stuff Big_slammu and GG on the new WR. Probably not usually viable but the named towns have options to trade amulets for cards (sometimes red)...shivan costs 3, eternal warrior 2, lightning bolt 1 (the highlights). Could be useful in a pinch. Also, hitting 4 on the qwerty side of the keyboard will use your lightning bolt without having to mouse over it.

Also, another idea I've experimented with is keeping earth elemental, fire elemental, and clockwork beast in your deck if a red castle spawns next to you. Seems like it could be slightly more consistent than colossus. Throwing some auras on them beef them up and then you have a higher chance of drawing a blocker and/or another attacker for later game.

Something I taught kingsaluman today - you can turn off the coin flip animation by right clicking the field in a duel, go to Duel Options, and uncheck it. There's a few other settings in there (turning off cue cards for one), but that's the big one.

I'm glad I popped into the stream for a minute! I wish I'd have got a solid day of runs in before @Big_slammu sees this, but thems the breaks ;)

BC, that's awesome, didn't know that. will have to implement that when I get back to running this. Giving it a week off so I don't burnout.

Turning off the Coin Flip animation in Duel Options has to be a least a 30 second time save over the course of a run. It's HUGE.

Numpad is definitely the way to go for dungeons. Don't be afraid to reload castle dungeons if they have too many enemies either. You'll save time in the long run.

I originally routed the game almost a decade ago if any of you have questions. Hit me up.
