Rules?

I saw the stream of the one with the WR title, and I noticed there are no Loading screens... This makes me believe this is modded and I am now questioning the rules for this game/run.

Are you allowed to mod your game making your version cut out what would be a fourth of the run+-(haven't timed it but it's long)

Also, since not all versions are supported by this mod as far as I saw, which makes it unfair overall.

and now I've driven myself in a corner and don't know how to end this thing... so... yeah... Probably make info about rules more descript, or something? idk...

I'm not sure what video you're looking at, but the WR does have loading screens, they're just 1-2 seconds long because it's an old game and doesn't require a lot of hardware to run.

This is also PC only, the other versions have other leaderboards because each of them are different.

The game is old, yes, but the creators for some reason prioritized rendering the loading screen, before actually loading the game (This is the best explaination I have found so far). I have an over qualified setup, but loading into the main island still takes mora than a minute each time, already putting me 6-7 minutes behind.

I am now adjusting my former statement, I believe he has a modded version of the game. I am not a hundred percent sure, but most sources I have found regarding loadingscreens in this game say that they are unnecessarily long, and you are able to mod the game on some versions to adjust the priorities, making the loadingscreens nearly nonexistant.

You are correct about the 'modded' version of Lego Island 2. Default the loading times crazy long for no good reason and are also very boring when you're live streaming record attempts of this game.

I have the loading time fix, higher quality font and HQ grass options enabled. This is done with the LI2 Mod Manager. There are various other mod loaders available able to achieve similar results supporting most (if not all) language versions of LI2.

There is a draft of rules for speedrunning this game somewhere on my PC I'll actually put up when I am back from my holiday. These also include mentions of requiring a FPS lock when running this game runs 'windowed' because certain minigames break when they are played when you have over 60fps.

I have a run done back in the summer of 2016 with atrocious load times, and I can support using mods to cut the loading times to a negligible fraction of the original.

I've made a new thread for the Any% category and elaborated a bit on them in the main overview of runs.
