Any%

I wanted to post this so you guys could have some input as well...

I'm thinking Tutorial island to General Assembly would be the best idea for what any% could be. And I'm thinking that if you do it solo change your privacy to no one allowed to join. So it would be true solo run. If you do it in a fireteam, you have to have the same fireteam throughout the whole run.

Any missions that break this rule would be automatically disqualified. Thoughts?

That sounds good, but when should the timer start and stop? I think it should end on mission complete at general assembly. And I think we should start it after character creation when you gain control and new mission first appears at the top of the screen.

Yeah, timer stopping is easy...

I mean we can do it kind of like an RTA. Where you start timing as soon as you hit New Game. Make it a little easier to track then starting after character creation

I only say after character creation to reduce differences in timing due to lag between loading the cutscene and loading the game. But I don't think it will matter as much because you will get the same lag inconsistencies in fast traveling. Either way there will be lag rng throughout the run so I am fine with starting it at new game click/button press.

Factoring out load times would be crucial. Pc can load in a bout 6 seconds while console can take a minute. Also, NG+ kinda would be appreciated as NG would require some much needed routing mostly for how you'll keep up your level and I'd like to some full runs before having to go all in on figuring out how to do what where. The also, would you have to do all missions in proper order, or do the start and end missions have to be the only ones that're the same?

Well we could have for the Any% separate leaderboards for PC and Console due to loads. The only problem is that there really isn't a NG+ you can do because as far as I know you can't go back to the tutorial island. NG+ is basically the IL's.

And I think if you did it not NG+ style General Assembly is one of the last missions. But I am not too sure. I mean we can discuss it but I would assume General Assembly be the last mission due to it being the only level 30 missions there is. I mean then comes the question of a separate leaderboard for all hard missions and etc...

For NG+ I'd assume mission order wouldn't matter (runners choice). NG+ would be finish all the story missions in one playthrough. Maby have an RTA time (start on new game/end at mission complete on last mission) Time without loads, that is the missions alone (only run the timer when you cross this mission wall and pause when mission complete comes up) would be the ranking factor?

I do think any% should be different though because you have to travel to an area before you can fast travel there. Only have an RTA for any%. The only place we can prevent unnecessary lag is the opening cutscene, by starting after character creation (minor inconvenience). On the other hand NG+ you would just fast travel as soon as you finish a mission, so it makes sense to cut out the loading times.

Instead of it being called NG+, you coudl call it All missions instead since you can't do tutorial island.

There doesn't have to be separate leaderboards for console and PC, people will just have to factor out loads times manually and because it'd be a fairly long category, I don't think it'd be run that often so verifying won't be that bad. I don't think it'd be too much to ask of people to subtract the load times from their end time.

I am liking the idea of...

NG+ being called All Missions and then the RTA time being called Any%. And if people subtract the loads from the game that should be fine... hopefully.

Not that I'm asking for mod or anything but I have no issue subtracting my own loads or doing it for other people.

once we get more people, I have no problem giving you mod to help out.

Any chance of a 100% run? It would be a long run. The timer would start when you finish your character and end when you hit the unknown signal. It would include all collectables(maybe not), encounters, all wings, side, and main missions. Who knows maybe we could find tricks to help make the other missions faster.

It took me around 19-20 hours to get 100% on my first play through. That included my few hours trying to find collectable that I couldn't get until late in the game.

We can definitely look into it. I would want to wait maybe till a route is made and someone has started or is ready to submit a run.

Also i know that collectible... it teased me so much during the game.

I'm going to take this weekend to do some routing and run through the game for the any%. I'm hoping that I don't missions bugs.

Has anyone else experienced the glitch on subway morgue that makes the final checkpoint not load and Paul Rhodes doesn't spawn. It's happened to 2 of my friends. It basically makes it unable to open your tech wing.

If you have knowledge on how to fix this can you let me know?

Sorry I wasn't able to say anything. Everyone was able to say everything I wanted to say already lol. Should I make some sort of Google Document and put in everything that was discussed? It'd be easier if people didn't have to scramble through this thread.

British Columbia, Canada

You could yes. That probably be easier to read then the forum posts.

Is there a final decision on where to start the timer and end it? I'm going to try this tomorrow, Just to see how it goes. If the time seems good I'll submit it.

British Columbia, Canada

For RTA, it will start at create new character (like to start the first screen) and end at probably the last Mission Complete (which i believe we stated as General Assembly).

For 100% it would probably end with Unknown Signal.

  1. Kind of like OOT, they still have the timer active during that opening cutscene. so why not. It is also the first input you do. 2 & 3 - make total sense.
