Respawn Buff Glitch Explanation

Credits to Bluefishracer for discovering this glitch. I just helped with some of the testing. I am planning on moving this information to the Guide section later on.

Respawn buffing allows party buffs to stack indefinitely. Use Nim in a non-player one slot during co-op speedruns to get the most out of the glitch.

Usable in any co-op speedrun categories. Increases crit chance or spell power of nearly every party member to make the latter part of every level and boss fights very trivial. This glitch is particularly useful during the final level because of the long walk in the beginning. Alternatively, use this glitch to increase magic resistances to 100% and prevent side-effects like frozen, burn or stun.

Have at least 2+ people in your party. One of those characters must have a passive party buff skill that says “for you and your fellow students” and they must NOT be player one.

So far, the only platform I know this works on is the Nintendo Switch. I do not have other versions of Nine Parchments and cannot test on other platforms.

We tested the glitch in Nine Parchments v1.1.1 on the Nintendo Switch.

The character with the party buff skill simply needs to leave and re-enter, or “respawn”, back into the game during any level. On the Nintendo Switch, this is done by pressing the "-" or "+" buttons. This is not the same as dying and being resurrected. Once the character respawns, then everyone else, besides the character triggering the glitch, gains additional buffs for the rest of the level.

The buffs stack additively and most max out at 100%. For example, say you have Rudolfus in your party with maxed “Death Wards” for a 20% Death resistance for the party. If he respawns 4 additional times, then all other characters in the party will have 100% resistance to death magic for the rest of the level.

If a player dies after this glitch is triggered, they do not lose the buffs.

Buffs are lost at the end of every level. Also, if anyone with the buffs respawns (in order to catch up to the first player for example) then they lose the stacked buffs as well.

The person triggering the glitch has to be careful because if they respawn during a fight, then they die. They need to time respawns in between battles. However, some battles start earlier than they seem which can make timing the glitch difficult.

Nim is one of the best characters for exploiting this glitch since he has a whopping four party buff skills. Using Nim with the appropriate skills, every respawn buff grants an additional 15% spell regen, 5% Fire/Ice/Lightning resistance, 20% max health and 10% crit. The most helpful one for speedruns is the 10% crit, which conveniently guarantees the other buffs as prerequisites.

Gislan is also pretty good with 10% spell power, which on average grants the same amount of damage as Nim’s extra crit chance. Past 9 respawns, Gislan’s buff still increases damage while Nim’s does not.

Listed below are the characters who can respawn buff and their required skills. Gislan – Lively Company (10% spell power) Marvek – Flame Wards (20% Fire resist), Trailblazer (20% Fire spell power, 20% Fire resist) Carabel – Ice Wards (20% Ice resist) Rudolfus – Death Wards (20% Death resist) Owl – Lightning wards (20% Lightning resist), Birds of a Feather (10% Lightning spell power) Nim – Ponderance (15% faster spell regen), Elemental Wards (5% Fire/Ice/Lightning resist), Sheltering (20% max health), Cleaning Day (10% crit chance) Selius – Solace in Shade (15% resistance against stun/slow/freeze)

We tested if the glitch works with brooms that buff all players like Nim’s Worn-Out Broom (3% spell power), Blade of Anastasis (3% crit chance), or Scythe of Anastasis (5% crit chance), but the broom buffs does not trigger the glitch. This glitch also works in the arena.

Amazing find guys, I’ll need to check with my friend if this works on the PC version but I’ll post an update here when I know. The only other question I had was if you tested it in local or online? I know you can leave and rejoin when you like on local coop but I’m not sure about online which is how my friend and I do runs.

Good point. We only tested on local co-op, not on online since we only have one copy of the game. I'm fairly sure that if you can leave and re-enter quickly like what we did in our 3P run, then it should still work.
