The rules?

I was looking at the rules before posting up my runs and I notice that the rules allow for "any speed" to be used. The rules also doesn't specify on difficulty at all, which I think should matter when comparing runs.

Yeah these are mainly placeholder rules, because the community for this game is not all in one place. There's a lot of runs that's either in turbo mode or normal, and I would like to feel it out. I run the game on normal speed, but i've been playing with turbo and I like it a lot. But at the same time, as you have to manually unlock turbo mode, that might not be the best way to go. As for difficulty, that one was just an oversight on my part, the runs WILL be in normal difficulty.

Understandable on that the speedrun community for this game isn't exactly established yet, but if anything, to at least have some basic rules properly up so that others who look here can attempt runs if interested. :)

Since there's a number of videos for both speeds for FnR, maybe adding an option for both Turbo and Normal. As much as I prefer running the game in Normal speed, I can understand why others prefer running the game on Turbo due to how much faster the game can be completed.(Example:Using Normal Difficulty, My PB for Ricardo/Normal Speed is 32:46, whereas my PB for Ricardo/Turbo is 24:52.) As for difficulty, I'm fine for only Normal til maybe more runners show interest for the other settings.

Alright, added new categories for Turbo Gal, Ricardo, F. Norris, 2 player, and 3 player. Still normal difficulty. Good luck running!

Just wondering if you could organize the turbo categories within the other existing tabs so there isn't like 10 leaderboard tabs to click on. There are various other leaderboard that have done this (examples below) and it looks nice imo.

I plan on uploading speedruns for Unfair Turbo at some point. Will the category be added?

I'm organizing them like that now, @ETgoHAM, I wasn't aware we could do it like that, and yes unfair Turbo will be one of the categories as well

EDIT: Fixed the cluttered mess and added Unfair Turbo to the list.

This is the only reason why i didn't put this game on Speedrun.com

3 Characters, 8 Endings, Tons of difficulties, Speed modifier..... SOR2 was already a fucking mess but this game xD The categories are never ending.

You can also link a subcategory to another one like we did for separating Emu from Console on SOR boards.

The problem is, if you don't put one single mandatory category only and start allowing others, you put yourself in a situation you have to allow everything else. The difficulty is a major time change, speedrun is about clearing the game as fast as possible so easy mode is the best difficulty. (yet some people who love difficulty will ask for the others harder difficulties)

Then you have the Final fight 3 warps, using secret path to finish the game faster now separate one route to another (I didn't even bothered putting this mess in SOR3 for example) but in FF3 the mod did separate categories for the warpless% which work for the endings* as well. I'd just add the official route/path in the rules and not count the others but some people's risk to cry about this.

We can be happy the game didn't got multi platform releases it would have been even harder to do that XD

Another thing to consider is the game changing version. If we have an update that alters the game, (like when Gal got her buffs) will runs from older versions of the game still count? And wouldn't we have to tell/show what version we're running?

What I want to happen with Fight'n Rage, regarding things like the categories and such. The game is meant to be explored at every turn and things like secret warps and that are really just another path to take. We don't HAVE to divide "Path A" runs and "Path B" runs. We run the path that's the fastest, and part of the game is determining which path IS the fastest. Like I always go left at the first screen because it leads to the truck level, which can be easily sped through by throwing every enemy off the truck, only having to REALLY fight the boss at the end.

There's other things I do to try and get the easier levels that makes it easy to kill enemies, and I don't plan to divide that from the rest of the runs because it's not the default run. Take which path you want to, but the ones that are the fastest are the ones that will have top billing.

Regarding patches, and updated versions of the game...it just depends on the patch. If Gal gets another buff, but Gal players still can't beat the #1 time, then the time remains. But on the flip-side, if she gets nerfed for some reason, then I'll see what people want to do with the times posted.

All this being said, I realize (just as you might have) that I will need some help in running this thing, if anybody ever decides to run this game. Anybody willing to help me moderate?

I suppose what you say about the fastest path and the updates makes sense. Another thing to think about is the use of mods, since this game has been proven to be modded in terms of things like graphics, sprite collision, enemy placement, scripts, etc. I believe that cosmetic changes like costumes and level graphics shouldn't be a thing to worry about, but things that alter the gameplay should make the run invalid. More info on modding Fight'N Rage can be found here in its own Steam discussion topic: https://steamcommunity.com/app/674520/discussions/0/1489987634014699750/

I haven't really moderated a game on speedrun.com before, but if nobody else plans on co-moderating the game at the moment, I suppose I could give it a shot if it's okay. You could also post on your Steam discussion topic, "The Official Speedrun page!", that the page needs some more people willing to help moderate. https://steamcommunity.com/app/674520/discussions/0/1693785669869568379/

I also wonder what the developer himself, sebagamesdev, thinks about how speedruns should go.

Sup all, I was reading the rules and since my PS4 runs a bit better than my PC at the moment, I figured I do a run on my PS4, which has the latest port and hopefully get more runs in!

I love this game and being able to speedrun this in under 50m was something a ear ago, I didn't fathom because of my PC. Now, Looking to sub 45 it!!
