Well every game/community has their own channel on SRL irc so idk if it's necessary. Maybe there could be a channel on there as well, but #speedrun might be taken/used for sth else already?

Melis is right. SRL IRC/skype groups/whatnot are already a thing and work perfectly fine. If a community has no place to talk with each other about strats, the forums will serve that purpose.

Also, I secured #speedrun on SRL IRC just in case.

A page with a web-based IRC client to connect to the channel of the game on SRL's IRC could be a good thing.
