Why isn´t Cuphead run in Goldeneye style?

Hey Guys!

I'm a new member to the community and I have just had my first time validated 2 days ago. When I started to look at the Cuphead speedrunning community a big question appeared in my mind:

It seems like most players speedrun the game as a hole, which doesn´t really make sense in the way the game plays.

Why don´t more people run the individual levels just like the GoldenEye players do?

It makes a lot more sense because it creates a much more competitive enviroment and makes the times easier to grind for, besides being a funnier way to play a game

I'm a new member to the community so I don´t know if this have been discussed yet.

Regardless, I'm very happy joining this community.

Stay true.

First of all, welcome to the community and I hope you have a great time speedrunning this game.

I'll tell you from my experience that even though ILs give a level of satisfaction, it's not quite the same as going through the whole game. In my opinion, Bosses are the main part of it, and because they are the only requirement to beat the game, it gives you that feeling of a Boss Rush Mode, which is extremely exciting. On top of that, the game is hard and mistakes are quite possible to happen. When you are on a good run and approach End Game, the pressure is on! This is the first game I speedrun and I gotta say I love that pressure.

Also, there are people who do ILs, and actually set some ridiculous times. So even though it's not a Main thing that the community does, it is represented by a lot of good runners.
