I'm thinking about getting into speedrunning, but I have an issue, I own a physical copy of a game that I'm thinking about speedrunning, but I don't own the system it runs on (gamecube), my question is, can I speedrun that game from the dolphin emulator?
Supposing you're talking about submitting a run to this site, it depends on the game's community. Best to ask on that game's forum.
I did, aparently "Unofficial emulation" is not allowed. What is that is that refering to using a ISO that doesn't belong to me?
Just using anything that's not an official release. This is because for newer consoles, emulators usually aren't accurate enough to be compared with official releases.

Basically official emulation would be things like Virtual Console : it's technically emulation, however anyone can get it, and it was officially "made" by Nintendo. PS1 / PS2 games you get from the PS Store on PS3 / PS4 also counts as official emulation.
Unofficial emulation is when you use emulators made by other people (for example emulators on PC in general, like Bizhawk, Gambatte, etc). If you hack / mod the Wii menu, you can also use emulators that weren't made by Nintendo to play games, there would cound as unofficial emulation (afaik).
I think i explained that pretty badly, but, well, i'm bad at explaining things anyway.
Can we also make a footnote that even though the PS Classic was "officially" released by Sony that it is "Unofficial" emulation?
Wii has faster loading times in general, iirc Also old models had GC controllers and memory cards ports
