I am not sure if this is real or not because I just heard from a Smallant stream you can reach the painting moon in Cascade. Thus 5 moons can be collected before the fight because the first moon, two moons from rock and 2d and a clip to the cave moon. Can someone tell me if this is real or not? If so will it be in Any?

It's currently only possible in 2-player mode. It's possible that this could save time in a 2P any% TAS, but I suspect it's far too difficult to save time in runs done by humans.

@Grady isnt that what this game has been about? People saying oh, its only possible by TAS and then people go and prove those theories wrong. Thats why this game is so fun to watch and run. It might be possible, people have just got to find a consistent setup, give it a year and we will see.

I agree. Remember when Snow dram was just barely possible to do once and now it's in the Any% route. Or Lake clip and how hard it has at first before it was finally used in Any%. I think over time this trick could be a consistent trick. Probably not right now but a bit later.

The thing here is that 2P is much less frequently run that 1P any%, so it's unlikely that anyone will put in the effort to learn this strat regardless. My theorized route would actually be to clip into the ground and grab the chest moon as Mario while Cappy activates the checkpoint on the island, which might be the only way to do the skip with it being faster than the standard route (and this seems like a TAS only idea to me). Most likely, it isn't even faster at all. Just spitballing here, I don't know a whole lot about how the skip works since I haven't personally tried it.

04dude found it. it lowers minimum captures to 10 and requires 2 player mode. It doesn't save any time in any% unfortunately. Hopefully this cleared stuff up

If it saves time in 2p any%, it is a small amount since you have to switch to 1p mode (idk if that's allowed on the lbs) and collect 4 other slow moons. Also, imo it's not too inconsistent to do in runs if it is faster.

From what I hear, the only thing that could really be useful is that it lowers the minimum captures to beat the game from 13 to 10.
